It gives you the option to remove the counterweight and expose a second 5/8"-27 thread at the other end of the boom, enabling you to attach a second microphone for stereo-recording applications. It also provides a space-saving solution for miking two nearby guitar cabinets using only one mic stand to hold two microphones.

The MSA9800's length adjusts from 21.5 to 36", giving you additional reach in tight spaces. The cats-eye knob lets you easily adjusts the boom angle with 320° of freedom. Solid metal knobs securely lock the boom in the desired position for precise mic placement.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this pole work with the Azden SGM - 1X?

A: This pole includes a standard 5/8 -27 male thread adapter with 3/8 -16 internal threads at the top pf the pole. The Azden microphone includes an integrated Shockmount (Attaches Microphone Stand female threaded 5/8 -27 )

Q: 2. Can I use two K&M 21105 counterweights on the same boom arm? Is there a hole at both ends to allow for this?

A: yes. I am using 2 on one arm. and there is another trick. if your arms are just a bit thick, you can pop out the plastic liner. I like these, it's hard to find good counterweights these days.

Q: 3. is this compatible with the K&M 237B Table Clamp (Black) ? BH #KM237B • MFR #23700-500-55

A: Yes. These two items are compatible. Be aware of the microphone and shock-mount weight.

Q: 4. Can this kit be hung upside down safely when clamped to ceiling rigging?

A: No, the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount is not intended to be mounted upside down. The tension screw that secures the arm in the clamp may not be capable of supporting the weight of a microphone and any accessories when it is mounted upside down.

Q: 5. Whats the difference between a K&M 210/8 and a 210/9 boom stand?

A: A 210/9 has almost entirely metal components. This is the best boom mic stand in my opinion, and B&H has the best price!

Q: 6. What is the inside diameter of the hole through the counterweight or equivalently the outside diameter of the boom arm this is designed to slide over ?

A: The K&M 21105 Counter Weight is designed for use on one-piece K&M boom arms with a 3/8" male thread or a tube diameter 0.6" (15mm). The Counter Weight itself is made of steel, has a height of 2.36" (60mm), a diameter of 1.97" (50mm), and weighs 28.2 oz. (0.8 kg).

Q: 7. Is the pivot mount steel or plastic?

A: In 2014, when I bought mine, the mount was steel. I cannot guarantee that they still are today, but mine have been very durable and solid.

Q: 8. What is the thread size? What is the depth of of the female thread?

A: The only female thread on this item is that of the screw-down mechanism (thumb screw) mentioned in the overview and clearly pictured. Those threads are M6x1.0 and about 17mm deep. They extend to the large central hole at the center of the cylinder but the end of the thumb screw does not bear directly against the boom arm. It instead bears against a plastic liner pressed into that central hole which prevents scratching the finish of the boom arm.

Q: 9. Do I need an adaptor to attach a Shure MV7 microphone to this mic stand?

A: No. You just unscrew the included mic clip and screw on the MV7.

Q: 10. What size Threading Adapter do I need?

A: It really depends on what device you are trying to connect. The standard threading is 5/8 -27.

This dual mic capable boom arm has been fantastic. Sticking a pencil mic on each end and using it a recording studio mode rocks! Can wait to try it outdoors recording environment.

If you are like me over your career you have many old style long single pole mic stand booms. Sometimes you need to place them where neither front or rear can stick out in the way. Not only are these a great replacement for the long boom, since they can be long or half size BUT you can unscrew the handle, screw on another mic holder and have one mic stand for two singers or capturing a group of vocalists with multiple mics and only a single stand. A great two-fer. This is my third of these purchased and probably need three more to have addressed all the stands i own that were originally long single pulse. Also great for adding a multi use boom to single upright mic stands,

I use this with my Ultimate Keyboard Stand and my other straight mic stand. Well built and sturdy. Knobs are good quality and nothing to worry about. Hope this will last long.
