Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much power does this draw?

A: Rolls does not specify. It is very low ()14-24 VDC. Please refer to the schematic below:a href= http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/89467.pdf target= _blank http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/89467.pdf/a

Q: 2. Can this be used in place of a mic activator, such as a cloud lifter ?

A: Yes, you can use the TubeOpto instead of a Cloudlifer. The TubeOpto can be used with dynamic and condenser microphones while the Cloudlifter is specifically for use with dynamic mics. The Cloudlifer has a passive design that uses phantom power from the mic input you connecting to and can add up to 25 dB of clean gain. The TubeOpto does much more than just add clean gain since it is fully featured tube-based mic preamp. Its eight channels each have their own input and output gain controls which can add up to 70 dB of clean gain as well as additional features to shape the sound.

Q: 3. Will this boost an XLR signal a further distance? I have a cable run of ~250ft and am trying to assure that I don't lose a signal.

A: The Rolls Mini-Mic Preamp is not really designed for boosting signal on a long cable run. For ~250 feet, you should use high quality shielded audio cables to avoid signal loss and if you do need to increase the gain without adding noise, you might want to try the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator (B&H # CLCL1) which improves signal-to-noise ratio and improves the performance of passive microphone signals by driving stronger, cleaner signals over longer XLR cable runs.

Q: 4. does this unit come with a power supply? My main intent for it is to put between my TT and Pioneer spc-1 preamp, because of the long distance between the two. I'll also use it to transfer some vinyl to computer, but for that purpose I believe the USB connection will power it.

A: The power supply is included with the USB Phono Plus.

Q: 5. Will this preamp boost an XLR signal a further distance than without using it? I have to cover a distance of ~300ft and am trying to assure no loss of signal.

A: The Rolls Mini-Mic Preamp is not really designed for boosting signal on a long cable run. For 300 feet, you should use high quality shielded audio cables to avoid signal loss and if you do need to increase the gain without adding noise, you might want to try the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator (B&H # CLCL1) which improves signal-to-noise ratio and improves the performance of passive microphone signals by driving stronger, cleaner signals over longer XLR cable runs.

Q: 6. is this power supply dual voltage and hrtz?

A: Based on what we can tell, this power supply would be dual voltage and dual hertz.

Q: 7. I'm using Cubase as DAW and Fireface UC . Can I connect Art TubeOpto 8 to Fireface and control/record all to Cubase?

A: Yes you can. I recommend attaching the Art via the ADAT out optical port to the ADAT in port on the FireFace. That will send all 8 channels digitally to the FireFace for recording into Cubase.

Q: 8. Is this hardware version 1.1? If so it will have dip switches on back of unit. This allows home theater bypass.

A: The SPL Elector Preamp has 4 dip switches on the back. This and further details can be found on the SPL product page for the Elector Preamp, linked here: https://spl.audio/en/spl-produkt/elector/

Q: 9. Does this come with a power adapter? If so, can it work for 110v to 220v?

A: Yes, the Rolls MP13 Mini-Mic Preamp includes the Rolls PS27s 15 Vdc 500ma 100-240VAC power adapter.

Q: 10. Which Rolls preamps are battery powered?

A: NO LO SE

I upgraded to this from my Art ll pre some weeks Ago. It may be too early for a comprehensive review but at first listen, there was a dramatic difference on a Positive note. It is well balanced and smooth.
Sure, all these pre amp phono stages say they follow the RIAA SPECS. From what I can hear ( and this is the 4th Phono Stage, this has been the best for its price range. Running a AT VM95 ML microline nude, I have control but have stayed at zero.

I won’t be changing this Bellari for a long time.

Wanted to improve the sound for my vinyl LP collection by going to a separate phono pre-amp instead of using the built in amp in the AVR. I chose the Bellari because of its adjustability. The Bellari is hooked up to a Audio Technica AT-LP120 turntable using a red microlinear stylus. Great sound. Recommended.

After searching high and low for a high-quality, but affordable preamp, I picked up this Bellari, and really enjoy it! The sound is crystal clear and replicates what I imagine the original recordings to be. It also works seamlessly with my Pioneer direct-drive PL-5 turntable and NAD C325BEE integrated amp. My only minor critique is that it does not have a power switch. However, I resolved that simply with a switched power strip.
