The Tiffen 72mm Skylight 1-A Wide Angle Mount Filter is a general use filter with a slight pink tint to help improve overall color accuracy and clarity. The light pink coloration helps to reduce the overall bluish cast of daylight and is especially effective when photographing landscapes and in shade.

The Sky 1A filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

This filter features a slimmer profile mounting ring, which is ideal for use with wide angle lenses. It does not have front filter threads for stacking filters.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, I want a metal lens hood for my Nikon F 24 f1.8 to avoid vignetting. Should I go for the 72 mm or 77 mm with stepup-ring, or something else? Best regards from Erwin

A: You may use the Sensei PRO 72mm Wide Angle Aluminum Lens Hood for a Nikon AF-S 24mm f/1.8 lens to prevent vignetting.

Q: 2. Will this fit a standard Canon lens, (any size)? Doesn't look like it. I have a blue lens with a 37mm lens diameter and don't know how to fit it on my lenses???

A: Tiffen 37mm 0.65x Wide-Angle Conversion Lens BH #TI.65WACL wouldn't fit on any of the standard size Canon interchangeable lens. Depending on what lens you have, you might have to use a step down adapter.

Q: 3. Can you screw in your already existing polarizing filters into this adapter, or do you have to buy the Lee polarizer?

A: This is an adapter ring for use with the Lee filter holder and is not for attaching a filter to it. You need the filter holder and a Lee polarizer.

Q: 4. can it fix with XF 10-24mm?

A: Yes, the FUJIFILM XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens can accept the Sensei 72mm Wide Angle Rubber Lens Hood via its filter thread.

Q: 5. Will this size fit my sigma 10-20mm lens? I just got my 77mm but I find it a bit to big for my lens. Just need help on finding the right size ring adapter.

A: I'm sorry Jeremy, I don't own any sigma lenses, but doesn't the 10-20mm have a 82mm thread?

Q: 6. Does this work for the seven5 system? I bought a standard 72mm to seven5 adapter ring and got severe vignette at 16mm. Does anyone have any solution?

A: Unfortunately, this LEE Filters Adapter Ring - 72mm - for Wide Angle Lenses would not be compatible with the Seven5 filter holder. Im not aware of any 72mm adapter rings for that filter holder that would be specifically made for wide angle lenses. And, as 72mm appears to be the largest adapter ring, there wouldnt be the option to use a larger adapter ring with a step down ring. You might need to look at a different filter holder/system for your lens.

Q: 7. Hi, could I use it with a Leica 12-60mm of my GH5? Do you think it is sufficient for my wide angle lens? Thanks

A: I use mine with Canon equipment and it is super when taking pictures against windows, I would not know if it fit Leica equipment

Q: 8. Will it works without vignetting on 10mm lens ( i need it for fuji 10-24mm lens) ?

A: Yes. You should not get vignetting on an effective focal length of 20mm.

Q: 9. Does this 72 mm rubber lens hood screw onto the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II lens?

A: As the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens has 72mm filter threads, yes, the Sensei Wide-Angle Rubber Lens Hood (72mm) may be used with the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens. However, do note that this is a third-party lens hood designed for wide angle lenses, and the lens hood may not provide adequate light-blocking capabilities at all focal lengths found in the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens. If performance at all focal lengths are needed, then the Tamron Lens Hood for 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD Lens, B&H # TALH1840035, would be the correct lens hood for your usage needs.

Q: 10. Will it work without vignetting on 10mm lens?

A: You will probably get some vignetting at 10mm.

This rubber lens hood serves two major purposes for me...

1. I press it up against glass to do away with reflections. I shoot lots of time lapse in airports looking out at the runway so having this rubber lens hood makes avoiding reflections easy. I just get a small tripod and angle the camera to the rubber is pushed up to the glass as close as possible. As long as the glass is clean it'll look great.

2. The other main use for this is just as a lens hood bumper for when I'm shooting hand held.

For the cost, this is a great item to have in your kit.

I use this on my Canon RF 24-240mm, with a B+W UV filter in-between this hood and the front glass. It fit well, and has a good feel to it. Will help absorb some impact of lens vs. other objects as well.

This hood works well on a lens that rotates when extending. The butterfly type just doesnt locate well on those lenses.
