Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does this work with the zoom H1?
A: This is the cable for the Zoom H1. B&H # SEL2MZMH4MON
Q: 2. Does this cable work for Panasonic Lumix S1R and Zoom H6? Thank you!
A: Hi Edward. For the Zoom H6 recorder, we recommend the LN2MIC-ZOOMH6 or LN2MIC-ZMH6-MON assembly. Thank you!
Q: 3. The screws from the handles to the the cage brackets are too small - unsure how this would work without a screw adapter?
A: The PRL Perfect Grip Handles with ARRI-Style Rosettes (Set of 2) (B&H# PRLMCHANDLES) features ARRI-style rosettes, the screws in the center of such rosettes being too small for 1/4"-20 female threads. (That's because 6mm is just a bit smaller than 1/4".) However, they handles may be used with the included rosette mount adapters. Those adapters will fit into many cages, such as the PRL Director's Cage for TVLogic F-5A and VFM-055A (B&H# PRLMC5TVLGC) with its 1/4"-20 threads and anti-twist pin receivers.
Q: 4. Does this work with a Panasonic GH3?
A: The LN2MIC-ZMGH-MON from Sescom is compatible with the GH3 and most other DSLR cameras that feature a 3.5mm mic input jack.
Q: 5. why do I get a hissing sound while using this cord with my h4n zoom and 5d mark ii? I'm guessing its best to set the interior audio setting to manual.
A: Hi Tisa,Yes, it is best to have the on-board audio set to manual with this cable. You may need to do a few test recordings to get the settings properly dialed in.
Q: 6. Would this cable work to record line level from a mixer to an iPhone?
A: The Sescom LN2MIC-TASDR100 Line Out to Camera Mic Level In Cable will convert line level signal to mic level, but you would need to use additional adapters to connect from the mixer and to enable compatibility with the iPhone. As another option, Sescom does offer other types of line to mic attenuator cables that are intended for use with smartphones and have a 3.5mm TRRS connector on the end that connects to the smartphone which you would use with the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APLAADAP) to convert the TRRS plug to Lightning. Depending on the mixer and its available output connectors, you will have different options such as the Sescom Dual 1/4" Phone Plug to 3.5mm TRRS Plug Line to Microphone Summing Cable 3' (B&H # SEIPSUMTS3) or the Sescom Stereo RCA to 3.5mm TRRS Plug Line to Mic Level Summing Cable for Mobile Devices 36" (B&H # SEIPSUMRCA3) or the Sescom Dual Female XLR to 3.5mm TRRS Plug - Line to Mic Level Summing Cable for Mobile Devices 3' (B&H # SEIPSUMXLR3). These cables will send the left and right output from the mixer and will connect to the iPhone when used with the Apple Lightning adapter
Q: 7. How many channels of audio does the cable send?
A: This, Sescom LN2MIC-TASDR100 Line Out to Camera Mic Level In Cable, is intended to pass stereo (L/R) signals.
Q: 8. Is there the same type cable as this but longer than 9"? I need it for a GH5 on a gimbal.
A: I would say 12 to 14 inches.
Q: 9. Can I use this cable to connect my H4N Zoom directly into my Panasonic GH4 and have the audio sync with video? Also will the headphone connection monitor the audio of the zoom or the camera? Thanks!
A: That's pretty much what it is designed to do. It takes the headphone level output from the headphone jack of your H4N and splits it into two ends, one mic-level output (male 3.5mm) that you can plug into your camera and one headphone-level output (female 3.5mm) that you can plug in headphones to monitor. BTW, my next suggestion is not what you asked about or how the product was designed, but I prefer to have a separate sound operator who records the sound on my Zoom H4N and transmits the mic level signal over a wireless pack to my camera. In this scenario, my sound operator uses this cable to monitor on headphones from the Zoom H4N while also plugged into a lav mic transmitter.
Q: 10. Does this work with and it is essential if I want to connect my TASCAM DR-05 to my Canon 7D?
A: In order to connect the output of Your Tascam recorder to the mic input of a DSLR, you will need an attenuator cable such as this Sescom cable. It will allow the camera to receive a safe audio level, and retain headphone monitoring.
