Rycote Classic Softies provide optimum wind diffusion and noise rejection while remaining cost effective. This softie features a standard size hole and measures 11.4" long. The softie will fit microphones with diameters from 0.7 to 0.8" / 19 to 22mm.

A: It does pretty well in that little wind. The problem at the beach is the crushing sound of the waves! The wind will be the least of your issues. I use this Softie all the time. Great product.

A: Rycote lists the Sennheiser ME66 with K6 power module as a compatible shotgun microphone for this outdoor windscreen.

A: No, the 9.44" (24 cm) internal length of this model is much too short to accommodate the AT8015 which is 18.1" (46 cm) long. Rycote recommends using the Rycote Standard Hole Softie Windscreen with 19-22mm (0.74-0.87") Hole Size (B&H # RYS32M) which has an internal length of 12.6" (32 cm).

A: Yes. I use this with my Sennheiser MKH 416. The Softie fits snugly over the mic.

Used on vacation while sailing in the British Virgin Islands. I was amazed at how well it handled substantial wind both while moored and under sail. 5

With the RYS10M completely enveloped onto the Sony's factory shotgun mic, I zoomed out and saw no fur in the shot which is good. Haven't used it outdoors in the element as of yet but assume will work with winds under 20-25 mph. I was worried of the extra weight on the factory Sony mic clamp but appears fine so far. I like the collapsible comb/brush that came with it as well. Rycote's factory tag (for advertising) sticks out too far but have plans for putting my own company logo onto it soon. Will buy one for my NXCAM next month. Thanks Rycote and BH. 5

Can't beat the wind protection of this screen. Fits a little snugly on my AT 835, but won't be pulling it on and off much, so no problem. 5

Got it for my MKH-416. Works perfectly. Pretty snug, blocks the wind. I have no complaints. Seems a bit pricey, but I guess it's worth it to block the wind the way it does. 5

I use a Sennheiser MKH416 mic and this dead cat fit perfectly and did the job of blocking some real stiff wind that we get out here in the islands during trade wind season. 5

I use this windscreen for independent films as well as school assignments. It is a must have for any outdoor recording. The noise reduction is as expected with no disappointment. I would reccomend. 5
