Featuring independent trim on all sources and monitor outs, the Big Knob Studio Plus has mono, mute, and dim functions along with a flexible 2x4 USB recording interface. It is built with two combo XLR-1/4" Onyx mic inputs with phantom power for condenser microphones. Recording and playback is at 24-bit / 192 kHz resolution and the cue mix allows for controlled blending of direct inputs with other signals for zero-latency recordings. Choice of recording paths provides flexibility for applications like podcasting and more.

Additionally, other features include flexible source connections, a convenient 3.5mm input for your smartphone, dual headphone outputs with independent level control, a built-in talkback mic and external mic input, a footswitch input, and 16-segment input metering.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would there be any issues using a Y cable to send audio to headphones as one of the outputs?

A: Y cables, when used to duplicate a stereo signal from a headphone output, will cut the audio level significantly.

Q: 2. Is it possible to hear audio just out of the phones jacks and not connected monitors?

A: Yes, the Mackie Big Knob Studio Monitor Controller and Interface can be monitored from its headphone output connections while the output signal to the monitors is muted via dedicated "Mute" button or turned all the way down with the "Big Knob" volume control.

Q: 3. it works on protools ultimate doing atmos?

A: Yes; You can use the Audient ORIA Immersive Audio Interface and Monitor Controller with Dolby Renderer and Pro Tools for Dolby Atmos multichannel support and rendering.

Q: 4. can i record vocals with the mackie studio or i need to buy a separate interface?

A: You can record your vocals on the Mackie Big Knob Studio model, as it has two mic inputs and it also operates as an audio interface.

Q: 5. can I connect a preamp like the dbx 286s to the Mackie big knob studio?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Will it convert unbalanced to balanced?

A: This passive monitor controller accepts and outputs cables with either balanced or unbalanced connections, but it does not actively convert signals from balanced to unbalanced or visa versa.

Q: 7. Do the transformer that power the class a/b amp hum?

A: No, the power transformer in the Mackie MR624 Powered Studio Monitor should not create hum.

Q: 8. Can you listen to both sources at the same time?

A: No, the Mackie Big Knob Passive Studio Monitor Controller does not allow the combining of both sources to a single output selection. Its "A/B" source select switch requires the user to choose one of the sources at any given time.

Q: 9. Does this unit come with cables?

A: The Mackie Big Knob Passive Studio Monitor Controller does not include any cables.

Q: 10. Will this record through USB to 4 separate channels? What exactly does 2x4 when referencing USB mean? I am NOT referencing the analog inputs/outputs, ONLY how it relates SPECIFICALLY to USB.

A: The 2x4 means this interface will send 2 channels (Left and Right ) to a recording program for recording, and will return 4 playback channels for monitoring. This will only record 2 tracks at one time.
