This Series 9 Tiffen ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 7-stop exposure. This 2.1 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings. This filter is compatible with Series 9 filter holders.

Q: 1. I'm looking for a 62mm polarizing filter for a 18-250 zoom I recently bought at B & H, on top of wanting a decent one I want one with a solid lens cap, I will be leaving this on the lens allot and a good filter is not much use if it is dirty or scratched. I previously bought B+W that had a useless plastic cap that would not stay on. Will the sigma lens cap attach to this or does it come with a decent one?

A: The Tiffen 62mm Digital HT (High Transmission) Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter is front threaded at 62mm's so you will be able to use the Sigma lens cap as designed.

Q: 2. Does this have a hard stop on it or does it rotate a full 360+?

A: The stops are indicated on the filter, however there is no pushback or hard stop as you rotate the ring.

Q: 3. Will this filter work with both a 58mm tele lens and 18mm wide lens?

A: This filters can work with any lens that has a 67mm front thread. However, you may experience vignetting on wider lenses.

Q: 4. Does this fit on a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Zoom?

A: Yes, the Sigma 17-50 you've described is a 77mm diameter lense. This filter will fit.

Q: 5. How does this compare to the wide angle low profile filter that is about $40 cheaper? Which one is recommended for videography/filmmaking?

A: The wide angle version is meant for wide angle lenses to prevent vignetting. Otherwise, both versions have the same purpose in mind.

Q: 6. What is the weight in grams of just the filer itself (no lens cap)?

A: The K&F Concept Nano X-Pro HD Variable ND2-400 Filter (82mm) weighs about 1.6 ounces which is about 45 grams.

Q: 7. Does this filter have front threads that will accept a screw-on lens hood?

A: Yes, it does. I use it with a lens hood often.

Q: 8. Is this filter recommended for digital cameras as well, like the Lumix FZ200?

A: Yes, the Tiffen 52mm Digital HT (High Transmission) Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 Digital Camera and would fit onto the 52mm filter threads on the front of the lens, and would be recommended for usage to reduce or eliminate glare and reflections from non-metallic items and (depending on your position and the position of the sun) can also darken/deepen the blue in the sky on blue sunny days. By removing glare, it would also slightly increase teh color saturation and contrast of your image.

Q: 9. I do not see a high transmission ultra-slim or low profile version of this filter. Will this polarizing filter cause vignetting with wide angle lenses?

A: when using wide angle lens we highly suggest using filter with slim profiles to avoid vignetting.

Q: 10. Does this fit on a Canon RF 24-105mm L lens? Without touching the glass?

A: Yes it fits on any lens that has a 77mm filter thread such as the Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L lens.
