A: Technically, you can see through the center; however, there is a ledge around the circumference of the interior that separates the two different-sized threads and acts as a stop against the top of the threaded post you are screwing it to.

Q: 2. Can you tell me if the camera plate will snap into place on this clamp, or is it a slide-in like the big Manfrotto plates? Thanks.

A: First you have to open the plate up fully by turning the quickset level fully open, then you tilt your plate and slide it into one of the long side of the plate, because the plate is open, then you can push the other side of the plate into place (it will not work unless the plate is fully open). Next you close the quickset lever one notch which allows you to adjust the position, then another notch to fully lock it.

Q: 3. What is the thread pitch of the 5/8 exterior threads? Is it 5/8-11, 5/8-18, or 5/8-27?

A: What I can tell you is that it is works with a standard microphone clip. I just looked up the standard threads per inch in a standard microphone clip. The answer I got was 5/8-27. A: The Camera base plate ( sold separately ) slides into the Arca Swiss Quickset Fliplock from the side, then clamps to lock
