Realize the full potential of your full-frame Canon EF-Mount glass on your APS-C and Super35 format Sony E-Mount cameras with this Metabones Canon EF to Sony E-Mount T Speed Booster ULTRA II 0.71x. Utilizing advanced optics, this adapter will increase the apparent angle of view of your full-frame lens by 0.71x, effectively combating the crop factor of an APS-C camera. This also increases the apparent sharpness of your image while also increasing the maximum aperture by 1 stop, making your full-frame lens look as if it were mounted on a full-frame camera.

Further improving on previous generations of Smart Adapters, this fifth-generation model now features a rubber gasket to protect the camera's mount from dust and moisture, offers a status notification LED light to check operation modes, and provides a dedicated switch that controls in-body image stabilization of select cameras. Also, this version is compatible with the Sony PXW-FS7 Mark II video camera.

This adapter is equipped with numerous capabilities thanks to the use of a high-performance 32-bit processor. The features include support for both phase-detect and contrast-detect AF systems, as well as the ability to control the aperture from the camera body. Smooth iris effects are possible on select lenses, and 5-axis stabilization is available thanks to communication of distance information with supported lenses. Also, it features a programmable function button, enables electronic (focus-by-wire) manual focusing, transmits EXIF data to the camera, and works with in-lens image stabilization. Additionally, distance and zoom is displayed on certain camcorders and mirrorless cameras, auto magnify can be enabled, and it can automatically switch into APS-C mode, depending on the lens used.

Beyond electronic communication, the adapter has many physical advantages as well, such as a black felt flocking on the inside of the adapter that prevents reflections. For larger lenses, there is a removable Arca-type compatible tripod foot with a 1/4"-20 thread on the base.

Allows users to adapt a full-frame Canon EF-Mount lens to an APS-C/Super35 Sony E-Mount camera, or a full-frame camera in APS-C mode.

Advanced 5-element in 4-group optical construction uses ultra-high index tantalum-based glass, increasing the angle of view of a full-frame lens by 0.71x, and the maximum aperture by one stop. This effectively compensates for the 1.5x crop factor of APS-C cameras and provides an image like that of a full-frame lens on a full-frame camera.

Electronic contacts permit transmission of data between the lens and camera enabling autofocus, auto exposure, image stabilization, aperture control from the camera body, saving EXIF information, and more.

Status notification LED light on the adapter will show the user what mode the adapter is currently in.

Dedicated switch for controlling in-body image stabilization.

Programmable function button for rapid access to commonly used settings and features.

Support for phase-detect AF with the a7R II, a7 II, a6500, and a6300 cameras.

Q: 1. What type of usb cable do i need to update the Firmware on this booster ? it is not type C or Micro USB

A: my adaptor seems to be an older version the bottom is silver / gray, not black. the mini USB is too small. does anybody know what type of USB this can be?

Q: 2. I have the sony a6500 and the sigma 18-35mm lens. If I get this speedbooster, will it give an extra stop of light? have to decide between this or the Sigma MC-11 (which works very well as an adapter and recording videos on the a6500). Thanks.

A: I believe the main differences here between the two is that the Metabones speed booster gives an APS-C lens an *almost* full frame look (hence the 0.71x magnification, wider field of view than compared to just the APS-C sensor itself), and secondly it is a speed booster which is referring to the aperture, and basically can open up your lens even further than it already does. For instance, an f/1.4 lens will become an f/1.2 or f/1.1 lens or something crazy like that with this speed booster. The Sigma MC-11 just allows for you to put a lens with whichever mount onto your E mount.

Q: 3. For the Sony a6500, what is the exact crop factor after using this sped booster? Id like to know exact (or close approximations) in reference to 35mm, so I can purchase lenses accordingly.

A: The resulting crop factor is 0.89. To make things easier as you go forward in your photography, forget crop factor and just know the mm for wide, medium and tele for each sensor size you are using. The Sony a6500 has a APS-C sized sensor so for it: 18mm=wide, 32mm=medium, 65mm tele. Think this way and you will not have to calculate the FOV (Field Of View) of a sensor you are not using.

Q: 4. ? I have to decide between this or the Sigma MC-11 (which works very well as an adapter and recording videos on the a6500).

Q: 5. What's the difference between this and the CINE version?

A: The CINE version adds a Positive-Lock for larger, heavier lenses. If you're not using heavy lenses, get this adapter.

Q: 6. Will this adapted slow down the frame rate from 20fps when used with any Canon lenses?

A: Nope, the adapter will effect the focal length and aperture, but not frame rate :)

Q: 7. What is the difference between the Metabones Speed Booster T Ultra and Ultra II?

A: just called a rep for you. the T Ultra is ONLY FOR APS-C Sony Bodies. Pretty stupid if you ask me, but there must be something different on the pinout for the electronics or some mounting difference? I couldn't get a better answer, but basically: - If you have an A7X or FF sony body get the Ultra II - If you have an APS-C crop body sony (like the A6XXX), get the T Ultra. ::copied the below::(T ULTRA) PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS (MESPEFEBT2)Canon EF Lens to Sony E APS-C BodyFull-Frame Lens to Sony E APS-C Body(ULTRA II) PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS (MBSPEF-E-BT4)Canon EF Lens to Sony E-Mount Body

Q: 8. whats the difference from mark IV and V speedbooster? is it the same ?

A: Metabones Mark 4 takes a an EF or EF-S lens and adapts it to sony e-mount. This includes other full and crop-coverage lenses like the Rokinon 12mm/f2.0, Toking 11-16/f2.8, Sigma 50mm1.4Art (and original) etc.etc. Basically ANYTHING canon mount will adapt to your Sony E mountBUT -- if you use an EF-S lens, or a lens with only APS-C coverage, you will get ONLY that to your E-mount sony body. So with a crop sensor coverage lens on the sony FullFrame body (ala A7X), you'll have to use the APS-C 'mode' to eliminate the vignetting.... with a full frame lens on a CROP sensor body (ala A6xxx), you'll get just that, a full frame lens on a crop body. (i.e., take 1.6x and multiply it by the true focal length. A 35mm lens on a crop sensor body is 56mm. That same lens on a FF body is still 35mm.)this is where the speed booster comes in:the speed booster takes a FULL FRAME coverage lens and literally squeezes all that light (and wider FOV) onto your APS-C sized sensor...Now, your 35mm full frame lens will look like a 35mm lens on your full frame camera PLUS AN ADDITIONAL STOP of light. So now your F4 lens is effectively an f2.8 now. Pretty cool. one stop = twice or half the light. two stops = four times or one fourth the light.

Q: 9. This says specifically says it's compatible with the Sony FS7ii. Does this mean it's NOT compatible with the FS7?

A: This also works with the FS7.

Q: 10. I'm assuming this Willa pro for the A6500 to use full frame emount glass right?

A: You dont need an adapter to use Full Frame E-Mount glass on a a6500. This adapter is only for EF Mount glass.
