The beige Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Lectrosonics Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls off the extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a 3-pin LEMO connector and is wired for use with Lectrosonics transmitters. Accessories are sold separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone used this microphone in combination with the Tascam DR-10L's? I am looking to upgrade the microphones provided and this looks like it could be a good option.

A: I have not used this Tascam model with the Sanken COS 11D but have used it with the Tascam DR-40 and other professional recorders. It's a great sounding lav mic and easy to hide.

Q: 2. I have Roland R05 recorder. Will this work with it?

A: The Sanken COS 11D-R is designed specifically to operate and connect to wireless audio systems transmitters. There is currently no version available that will function with a digital voice recorder.

Q: 3. Can I plug this directly into a Sony A7III?

A: The Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony Transmitters (With Accessories, Black) is made specifically for Sony wireless transmitters and is not able to be connected directly to camera inputs such as that of the Sony A7III Camera.

Q: 4. Will this mic work on the Audio-Technica System 10 bodypacks (with correct connector, of course)?

A: Yes

Q: 5. I've plugged this in to my recorder via the Senal PS-48B-35H Phantom Power Supply that's listed as a recommended accessory for this mic, with 48V phantom power turned on. However, I'm getting a very very low signal from the microphone, peaking at around -32Db even with the gain on my recorder turned all the way up. Did I get a dud or is there something I've missed here?

A: So you checked the gain, have you checked the fader? Is their a pad setting switched on the recorder or the Senal? My last suggestion is to check the voltage of LR44 batteries. Maybe they're about dead. Try switching to providing phantom power from the recorder.

Q: 6. Does this work with Lectrosonics LMB transmitters

A: Yes this is compatible with Lectrosonics LMB transmitters.

Q: 7. Hello, what's the difference between this COS-11D and the one with the mini connector ? Both are advertised for use with the Sennheiser EW wireless system, but the mini connector version is more expensive.

A: No accessories will be included with this version.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with Sennheiser G4 ew100 ?

A: No, this version of the Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Connector is compatible only with Sony Wireless Bodypack Transmitters. For the same microphone but wired for compatibility with the Sennheiser SK 100 G4 Wireless Bodypack Transmitter that is included with the ew 100 ENG G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone System, you will need the Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Sennheiser Connector - with Accessories, Gray (B&H # SAC11WNSETRG).

Q: 9. can we use the this Sanken COS 11 D, hardwired TA5F element to SMQV and SMV?

A: Yes, this is wired to work with Lectrosonics SMV and SMQV transmitters.

Q: 10. I have bought this mic and when plugged into my Sennheiser EW-G3 transmitter I get no signal at all, is there a setting I need to change? The transmitter works with ME-2 Mic, recording to a Zoom H6. Thank

A: Hi. This mic is great but comes with some strange and quite dealbreaking features. I sent my first one back due to a high pulsating noise that it created along with very low input volume. Got a new one and same thing. I'm paring it with a Sennheiser G3 unit and a zoom H6 as well and just by chance I notised that I had perfect sound when pulling the plug out of the G3 transmitter a millimiter or so. If you stick it all the way in, it wont work. Obviously this is crap and I'm only using it when I have a subject that I know will be pretty much completely still and I always have to fibble around with it for a while but then again, It produces greeeeat sound for a Lav. /Marcus
