The beige Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Reduced Sensitivity & LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Lectrosonics Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls off the extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a 3-pin LEMO connector and is wired for use with Lectrosonics transmitters. A metal windscreen, holder clip, rubber mount, and plastic case are included.

Q: 1. Does this work with the Track E recorder?

A: Unfortunately we have not tested E Track with this Sanken cos 11 Sennheiser lavalier. You can still purchase and tested for yourself we have a store return until Feb 1 2020

Q: 2. Can I plug this directly into a Sony A7III?

A: The Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony Transmitters (With Accessories, Black) is made specifically for Sony wireless transmitters and is not able to be connected directly to camera inputs such as that of the Sony A7III Camera.

Q: 3. Does anyone have experience using the Sanken COS-11D with 3.5mm Locking Sennheiser Connector with the Rode VXLR Pro adapter?

A: The Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Sennheiser Connector can run off of 3 to 10 V, and the Rode VXLR Pro provides 4 V, so the two would be compatible.

Q: 4. Hello. Do I need anything additional to use these lavs. I have a SD 633 mixer, and was considering getting these and just running standard xlr cables to these. I did however come across a discussion that talked about using DPA DAD3056 for these lavs?

A: The DPA Core 4060 comes in the box with the microdot to XLR, all you need is XLR cables to run it back to the SD 633. If you own Lectrosonics wireless transmitters with TA5 inputs the microdot DAD3056 will allow you to connect the lavaliers to your Lectrosonic wireless system directly.

Q: 5. Can this be used with cellphones? like, can I connect it to the Note 9 for example and use it and microphone for vlogging?

A: No it cannot be connected directly into a cellphone. The voltage requirement is greater than a cellphone can supply: Power Requirements: +3 to +10 V

Q: 7. Has anyone used this microphone in combination with the Tascam DR-10L's? I am looking to upgrade the microphones provided and this looks like it could be a good option.

A: I have not used this Tascam model with the Sanken COS 11D but have used it with the Tascam DR-40 and other professional recorders. It's a great sounding lav mic and easy to hide.

Q: 8. Since they don’t make a generic 3.5mm connector, can I cut off the Sony locking collar, and make it work on DSLR mic input?

A: The Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony Transmitters will only work with Sony wireless transmitters. The wiring scheme used by Sony differs from that used by most other companies, but the Sennheiser 3.5mm connector is considered universal for nearly all non-Sony devices.

Q: 9. Which Sanken COS-11D to get for use with a Rodelink Filmaker?

A: This model Sanken COS- 11D will work with the Rode Fimmaker Kit wireless transmitter. The models with "Sennheiser locking 3.5mm connection" are appropriate.

Q: 10. I have bought this mic and when plugged into my Sennheiser EW-G3 transmitter I get no signal at all, is there a setting I need to change? The transmitter works with ME-2 Mic, recording to a Zoom H6. Thank

A: Hi. This mic is great but comes with some strange and quite dealbreaking features. I sent my first one back due to a high pulsating noise that it created along with very low input volume. Got a new one and same thing. I'm paring it with a Sennheiser G3 unit and a zoom H6 as well and just by chance I notised that I had perfect sound when pulling the plug out of the G3 transmitter a millimiter or so. If you stick it all the way in, it wont work. Obviously this is crap and I'm only using it when I have a subject that I know will be pretty much completely still and I always have to fibble around with it for a while but then again, It produces greeeeat sound for a Lav. /Marcus
