The gray Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Lectrosonics Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls off the extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a 3-pin LEMO connector and is wired for use with Lectrosonics transmitters. Accessories are sold separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this mic compatible with the Sennheiser XSW-D 3.5mm (1/8") transmitter? Does the transmitter provide the correct power?

A: Yes, this Tram TR50 has a locking 3.5mm connector and is compatible for use with Sennheiser transmitters, including the XSW-D. The transmitter will supply the correct plug-in power that the mic requires.

Q: 2. New to all this and trying my best. I'd like to buy this microphone to use for filming for a YouTube show. What do I connect this to in order to capture audio while filming?

A: In addition to its high quality components, the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Normal Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone adds value in its versatility in connector options. Depending on your workflow and current equipment setup, this mic could be paired with a connector for a wireless mic system or hardwired into a recorder's audio input. Please email us at audio@bhphotovideo.com if you would like to have a more in-depth discussion on the options and possibilities for using the DPA 6060.

Q: 3. Can this tram mic be used by Deity Connect system?

A: Yes it can.

Q: 4. Does this include a mic clip? From the one product picture it looks like it does.

A: Yes

Q: 5. Is there a Sony version of this microphone? I don't see any listing for Sony. I understand that the Sony wireless mic's have a different pin configuration for power.

A: What you could do is get the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Normal Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone - Black (B&H # DP6060OCUB00) with a Microdot connector, not packaged with any adapter, then purchase the compatible Sony adapter separately. For the Sony adapter, you can use the DPA Microphones DAD6019 Microdot to 1/8" Mini Connector for Sony Transmitters (B&H # DPDAD6019) or the Deity Microphones DA35S Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter for Sony Transmitters (B&H # DEKSMDTDA35S). The DPA adapter is made in Denmark and the Deity adapter is made in China. Both adapters will work to enable compatibility with a Sony transmitter. When purchased separately, the 6060 CORE with the Microdot connector and DPA's Microdot adapter for Sony come out to the same price as the 6060 CORE that comes packaged with the Sennheiser adapter.

Q: 6. Hello. Do I need anything additional to use these lavs. I have a SD 633 mixer, and was considering getting these and just running standard xlr cables to these. I did however come across a discussion that talked about using DPA DAD3056 for these lavs?

A: The DPA Core 4060 comes in the box with the microdot to XLR, all you need is XLR cables to run it back to the SD 633. If you own Lectrosonics wireless transmitters with TA5 inputs the microdot DAD3056 will allow you to connect the lavaliers to your Lectrosonic wireless system directly.

Q: 7. Is this just the 6060 w a microdot and the sennheiser adapter or is the sennheiser jack hardwired

A: Yes, the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Normal Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Sennheiser Adapter has a hardwired Microdot connector and includes the DPA Microphones DAD6034 Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Sennheiser Adapter (B&H # DPDAD6034).

Q: 8. Since they don’t make a generic 3.5mm connector, can I cut off the Sony locking collar, and make it work on DSLR mic input?

A: The Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony Transmitters will only work with Sony wireless transmitters. The wiring scheme used by Sony differs from that used by most other companies, but the Sennheiser 3.5mm connector is considered universal for nearly all non-Sony devices.

Q: 9. What plug do I use for lectrosonic I thought it was Ta5 but I only see TA4 on the 6060

A: You are correct Lectro uses a TA 5. That particular DPA doesn't come with a TA 5 connector. Only 3-Pin LEMO, 3.5mm Locking, MicroDot and TA4F.

Q: 10. Is there a vampire clip for the Lectrosonics M152 lav mic?

A: Yes there is. The vampire clip for the Lectrosonics lav is actually the same one that works on the Tram. B&H # TRBCH.

I bought this Mic after deciding against purchasing a Sennheiser wireless. I've worked with a lot of wirelesses and this mic beats the sound quality of any affordable wireless lavs stock mic by leaps and bound. Much better range. Mixes really well with the NTG-3. My go to for situations that would normally need a wireless lav is to use the Rode Lav and strap a Zoom Handy recorder to the talent and sync the track to slate. Cost much less than any decent wireless and is much more reliable and works from ANY DISTANCE! Waterproof case and accessories are great but make sure to get the appropriate MicCon connector as this wasn't included. Small enough to hide behind a Bic Pen.

This seems of strong quality as long as no one would be rough with it. It looks great. Works very well, and is flexable in how it iis used. It needs phantom power. I decided on the simple unit for $20 that gives just phantom power. I bought an xlr adaptor for the end and their long, fine extension wire. So far, $20 plus 20 plus 30 I think. I bought a line out splitter for $4 and an attenuated cord. Search the catiloge for some things and the web site for others. In line will be the Sony pcm10. All toghther I am in for about $500 to have the lav working an all the accesories and the recorder. I am majoring in NMD or New Media Design and am a photographer. I had no interest in junk sound quality. The choose the gear based on whom I expect to be talking to.

Im am new to the video world. I needed a Lavalier mic that could work wireless or with a handheld recorder. I use the Zoom H1 and the Rode Lav and it sounds amazing. I use the zooms full potential for wave format and the rode out does itself. I was able to pick up clear audio of my bride and groom and it sounded as if i was there. I have the micon 2 adaptor and the xlr adaptor and it is the most versatile piece out of my equipment. for the money, get it. word of advice though, roll your mic cable, don't wrap it. its pretty thin and i am afraid to break the cable.

I've used these mics for about a year now and for the price it's hard to find a product as reliable across the board as Rode. The lav is great for rough field work (I do a lot of travel/international non-profit video work) and the mic has held up great in a variety of weather conditions and landscapes. The sound is crisp so as long as you know what you're doing with your recorder system - and is a great choice for interviews and other audio needs for most midrange video work. What's best about this mic is the adapter capabilities and accessories available. The variety of adapters allow you to fit to almost all audio recorders which is a huge advantage if you're working with a lot of different systems/people in the field. So to summarize: 1. It's a great reliable product for lavaliers in the $250-350 range. 2. There are tons off accessories/adapters to fit most recorders/needs. 3. Rode offers incredible warranties and service in the event that something goes astray with the product. 4. Great sound!
