Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this product be able to live stream a Canon Vixia HF R600 on a PC Windows 10?

A: Your capture device will accept signals from just about anything up to, but not including, a 3D or 4K HDMI signal so your Vixia should be fine. Your PROBLEM may be your PC which you do not identify. The PC must have a fast processor and an USB 3 port. A USB 2 port will NOT work very well if at all. My PC has two USB2 and only one USB3 so consult your manual.

Q: 2. Can I use this to monitor the HDMI video signal from a camera on an Android device (with the right cable adapters)?

A: The Vanco HDMI to USB 2.0 Video Capture Device will intake HDMI video signals up to 4K 30P and encoded them for use on smart devices that use Windows, macOS, Linux, or Android.

Q: 3. Does this device enable digitization of Hi8 tape and VHS tape recordings?

A: Yes, the StarTech USB 3.0 Video Capture Device supports Analog capture. With Hi-8 content you would be mostly capturing from S-Video, composite sources which are both supported by the StarTech USB 3.0 Video Capture Device.

Q: 4. Will work on MacBook Pro?

A: Just as long as the computer has a standard USB 2.0 connection it will work. This supports Mac OS.

Q: 5. Does this work with windows 10?

A: Yes, the Osprey 260e Video Capture Card is supported in the following Windows operating versions: Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11, and Server 2008 R2 / 2012 / 2016 / 2019.

Q: 6. Does this come with software? If not, what capture software will it work with?

A: This comes with the easy to use Stream Catcher Software which allows you to record H.264 files and stream to RTMP services. You can also use it with DirectShow compatible programs software such as Open Broadcaster Software.

Q: 7. Will this capture the date/timestamp from a camcorder?

A: Yes, if the camera is capable of outputting a date and time stamp then this will be able to capture it.

Q: 8. Does it support Windows 7?

A: Yes. In fact it supports Windows, MacOS and Linux.

Q: 9. What is the latency of this capture card for use in live situations?

A: GVM does not provide latency specs for the GVM 4K HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Capture Device. Most encoders like the GVM encoder will have a significant multi-second delay when live streaming.

Q: 10. Does it support Windows7?

A: Well worth the money. I have used them both on Mac's and Pc's and they have been flawless and simple to use. You can manually set them, but the auto feature works extremely well. You will need a USB 3.0 port.If I change my camera or computer output the Osprey automatically recognizes it.

I have stacks of VHS videos from the mid-1980s and I wanted to digitize them before the tapes degraded and couldn't be played. I took several to a local shop to have transferred ro DVD and it cost a lot of money -- about $80.00 for two DVDs. The shop owner said that it cost so much because the project tied up his expensive machine and he had to keep on eye them. I researched how to do the transfer myself and I saw good reviews on the Elgato System and hoped It would work for me. I am not a techno geek but can learn new applications (66 year old). I ordered the product and when I got the directions, it looked too easy. I called Elgato to be sureI understood that I simply had to connect my VCR to my computer (MacBook Pro) directly; it did not need to be connected to the TV at all. I downloaded the software and the screen directions are very clear. FYI. The video streaming from the VHS player shows up on the computer screen and can be cropped if necessary. At the end, I open iMovie and then burn DVDs with iDVD. Eventually, I will save to an external drive. I am very pleased with this product and the quality is excellent. I did find that I had the clean the heads on the VCR if the tapes seemed messy. I found several helpful You Tube clips on how to take off the cover of a VCR and clean the heads with alcohol and q-tips.

Bought this unit to preserve my old VHS home videos before they degraded completely. Downloaded the free software for my Mac, plugged the adapter into my last remaining VHS VCR, and everything worked like a well-oiled clock. I liked the ability to use an SVHS input instead of the video RCA connector (both are supplied), to squeeze the last ounce of clarity from my aging tapes. This was certainly not the cheapest product of its type, but for the trouble-free operation and lack of complication, it was worth the price.

The unit does what I bought it for. Videos don't seem to loose any quality. Files from my old 8mm are so so, the Hi8 are much better and the HD files from my JVC are very good.

I was able to transfer my VHS tape collection to my PC computer with minimal effort. I was pleasantly surprised how good the quality was with hardly any loss of clarity from the original recordings. The included software worked very well and provided numerous editing options. Most of the copying needed little customization and I left the editing selections in the default settings. I highly recommend the Elagto Capture Device for saving your analog recordings to digital copies.

Easily transfer family videos from VHS tapes to your Hard Drive. Simple to hook up, easy to use, with a clean and helpful user interface. You'll be saving your videos within 10 minutes of unpacking your Elgato Video Capture device. Make sure that your system meets or exceeds the minimum; the faster your processor, the better the results.

I needed to transfer some Hi 8 video tapes to digital on my desktop Mac. This package did it easily with great quality. I like that It accepts S-video for the best possible quality. Now I can edit & burn copies on my Mac.

Wonderfully simple, captures video better than a Dazzle by far (what I used on a PC). A clean upload that looks terrific once digitized. Elgato is the only video capture device offered by the @, for $. I purchased the same exact thing at B&H Photo for $ total, no tax or shipping, and it was at my door in 48 hours.
