Create a long range wireless flash setup with ease by picking up the WT-1T Wireless Transceiver from Metz. By using a reliable 2.4 GHz radio signal and a selection of 15 channels, users will be able to trigger receivers up to 984' away, without requiring line-of-sight and with minimal interference. Also, this system is compatible with Canon's E-TTL / E-TTL II flashes, permitting both TTL and manual control options and support for high-speed sync at up to 1/8000 second. Users will even have access to a TTL pass-through hot shoe on the top for using a flash directly on camera or setting up this transceiver unit as a receiver.

When multiple flashes are involved, the WT-1T offers group control with three groups for creating more elaborate setups. It also has a backlit LCD screen to show and change current settings as well as a standard sync port for use with studio strobes. Additionally, it has a USB connection for firmware updates.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with the D800?

A: This product is not compatible with the Nikon D800.

Q: 2. Will the Nikon WT-6 be compatible with the Nikon D4s, or is proprietary to the Nikon D5?

A: This transmitter is dedicated to the Nikon D5.

Q: 3. Is this equipment recognized by Lightroom or capture one? Basically can I replace the tethering cable with the wt-7a and still download into either of the programs?

A: I was able to set up a quick test where I had the WT-7 send the picture to a folder on a hard drive, then have Adobe Lightroom take the picture and perform an action to the photo.

Q: 4. Can you use a Metz (Nikon) receiver WT-1R with a Metz (Sony) WT-1T trigger?

A: No, you cannot. According to Metz, they state that it is not recommended to mix different WT-1 radio trigger systems (e.g. WT-1T Nikon and WT-1R Sony). Such a mixed system will not work correctly.

Q: 5. Can these provide either second curtain or high speed sync for Canon Mark III with multiple Paul C Buff Einstein 640 strobes?

A: Unfortunately, this transceiver will only provide high speed sync capability with Canon or Canon compatible Metz flashes from the Canon 5D Mark III.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the D810?

A: No, it is not. The Nikon WT-7A Wireless Transmitter is only compatible for use with the Nikon D500 DSLR camera. Nikon lists the Nikon WT-5A Wireless Transmitter, B&H # NIWT5A, and the Nikon UT-1 Communication Unit With WT-5A, B&H # NIUT1WT5A, as the only wireless units compatible for use with the Nikon D810 DSLR camera.

Q: 7. Can the WT-1T be used as a Receiver?

A: Yes. The following unit is a combination Transmitter and Receiver.

Q: 8. will the WT-6 work in different countries?

A: You will need to make sure that the country you're using the item in will have eligible frequencies for consumer use.

Q: 9. Ive seen in a review that it doesnt have thread on the bottom for mounting on a tripod. Is this correct? Or does it indeed come with a screw thread for mounting on a bracket or tripod? Thanks.

A: No female threaded point for mounting. Only the male screw for mounting to the base.

Q: 10. why do we need this, if the camera has built in wifi?

A: This boosts the effectiveness of the built-in WiFi by adding a wired ethernet port, as well as faster connectivity. The range of use is also increased to 656 feet.

I used to have the wt-4, I like it but had a beef with it, the wire on a wireless connection so when i got the d-4 I plunge right away for the wt-5 and man it was the right thing to do. No more cables, no more different chargers and different batteries to lug around and a very reliable connection. the only problem is battery life so i got 5 batteries to get me through the day. This is how I have it set. On location I use ad-hoc connection to my iPad running shutter snitch I set up the camera to shoot raw + small jpgs fine and tell it to send only the jpgs so my clients can review and approve on the spot. On the studio I connect to my wireless network and do the same thing. One thing that has amazing me is that I have being using wireless transfers since the d2x came out sending pictures to my computer or my laptop. But since I replace the laptop with the iPad the WOW factor from my clients has exploded they are always asking how do you do that

Saw previous reviews where people were saying they had issues with it. I have an old wireless router that I setup (don't connect this to the internet) and use this to route pix from my D5 to my laptop. I previously used the tethered setup and that worked fine and I've done limited tests. I have a couple of larger events in the upcoming weeks where I will be using this but so far so good.
