This Desmond DMH-2X1 Monopod Tilt Head is designed for monopods that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. It offers a ±90° tilt angle with an integrated Desmond DAC-X1 Arca-type clamp. By tightening or loosening the clamp's locking knob, a separately available Arca-type compatible quick release plate with an attached camera or lens can be secured or removed. The separately available plate can be precisely positioned using the clamp's 24mm center finder rulers while a built-in bubble level helps to ensure that this head and the device mounted to it are properly aligned to the subject. Constructed from aluminum alloy, the DMH-2X1 Monopod Tilt Head is durable while remaining lightweight.

The DMH-2X1 Monopod Tilt Head has a load capacity of 22 lb. A reducer bushing is provided, which also allows this head to be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 1/4"-20 mount. By loosening the MH-2X1 Monopod Tilt Head's locking knob, it can be quickly tilted or returned to its upright position.

The base of the Desmond DMH-2X1 Monopod Tilt Head is itself Arca-type compatible for use on monopods or support devices that feature a non-tiltable Arca-type clamp instead of a 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20 mount. To help prevent this monopod tilt head from accidentally sliding off if the clamp it is placed on is opened, four retaining screws are included for installation on the underside of the tilt head base.

A: You can install the Really Right Stuff B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp (60mm) on this head if you wish. The screw mount on the bottom of this head is 3/8-16 for mounting on most any monopod. This kit comes with a 3/8 to 1/4 bushing you need it.

I'm an amateur photographer and enjoy photographing birds and landscapes. I was looking for a tilt head that was well constructed and holds a Arca plate that received good reviews. I gave Desmond a short tryout when I received it and it seems to do a good job for the money and seems well constructed. 5

I was looking for a replacement for my Manfrotto 234RC monopod head as I am arca-izing my equipment and thought I'd try this tilt head. Really pleasantly surprised with the quality! Very comfortable to use, very sturdy. The clamp can be rotated by 90 degrees if necessary, the spirit level can be removed if not needed. 5

Rock solid and very well made, I use it on my Nikon 200-500mm with no problems, it supports the lens with ease and the tension knob is large and very easy to use with gloves 5

This head is well made and simple to use. It comes with a clamp style device for Swiss arca plates so a quick release could be useful otherwise a good unit. 5

I'm impressed with the construction and operation. The only issue was of my own making and can't be attributed to B&H or the manufacturer. I ordered this head for my dad who does not own any arca compatible base plates. My wife got me one for Christmas as well, and that's when I discovered the base plate is not included. I can't fault B&H or the manufacturer, since the writeup plainly states that the plate is not included. The only reason I'm including that information here is that many are like me and may not read the description in detail when shopping. Not really a problem if you already have arca compatible bases attached to your camera equipment, but if you don't, you need to order a base separately. 5

This is a very high quality, well designed monopod head. It's compact and relatively light, but still strong enough to easily support my 70-200/2.8 and 300/4 lenses with Kirk feet. The ARCA type plate works very well and is very secure. I have large hands, so I reversed the plate to have the clamp and adjustment knobs on opposite sides. I prefer the adjustment knob on the left side anyway, so I can continue shooting with my right hand while controlling the tilt and drag with my left. With the clamp knob on the right I get a good grip on the lens with my left hand when removing it. I don't need panning adjustment with a monopod and prefer as few knobs as possible. For sports I think I still prefer my big Manfrotto ball head, but for everything else this is working great for me. 5
