The Swarovski Optik STS-65 HD 65mm Spotting Scope combines the legendary image quality and world-class workmanship that nature enthusiasts, tactical professionals, and researchers have come to expect from the brand. The 65mm-objective straight-through viewing configuration is compact, relatively lightweight, and particularly well suited for the hunter, outdoor enthusiast, or birder on the go. This version of the STS-65 is offered here without an eyepiece for those users who already have the optional 25-50x wide-angle or 20-60x zoom eyepieces and want to upgrade their scope body. Extra-low dispersion fluoride glass elements efficiently transmit all wavelengths of visible light, resulting in bright images that are color faithful, crisp, and rich with detail. SWARODUR and SWAROTOP coatings on all lenses and prisms minimize glare while maximizing contrast.

Complementing the optical performance and technologies is a lightweight and durable aluminum-alloy chassis that is wrapped in a protective rubber armor. Its optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be dustproof, waterproof and submersible, and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes or environmental conditions. For mounting, the tripod collar has a 1/4"-20 socket on the bottom of the shoe and rotating collar for precise eyepiece placement relative to the mounting system.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. working temperatures ?

A: Buy a high quality fixed eyepieces such as the ones referenced above. Stay away from zoom eyepieces (image quality is not as good, in my humble opinion. Spend more money and get several fixed eyepieces--one that will let you get you fairly close and that will provide a wider field of view, and one that will enable you to get much closer and that will give you a much narrower fov. With this scope, you should have no problem using a high power ep to get up close and see great detail. (Also make sure you get and use a very sturdy tripod.)

Q: 2. Does the Meopta Meostar S2 82 HD angled spotting scope support digiscoping with DSLR or other camera types than the iPhone/Smartphone variety?

A: Yes, it can work with cameras. It depends on the camera you have. You will need an eyepiece and a camera mount adapter.

Q: 3. Does this spotting scope have any reticles or illuminated lines for guidance? If not, what other Zeiss spotting scope have reticles? Thanks

A: Spotting scopes don't have reticles. Only rifle scopes have reticles.

Q: 4. Does the S2 spotting scope accept 1.25" astronomical eyepieces natively or through an adapter?

A: The Meopta MeoStar S2 82 HD Spotting Scope (Straight Viewing) only accepts Meopta eyepieces. There is no adapter.

A: Yes , for casual viewing

Q: 6. Can this ZEISS Victory Harpia 95 hook up with Canon mirrorless camera body with RF mount? If so, what adapter should be used?

A: You will need (2) items. The Novagrade T-Mount Digiscoping Adapter BH #NOUA00T101 • MFR #UA-00T1-01 to position over the eyepiece The Vello T-Mount Lens to Canon RF-Mount Camera Lens Adapter BH #VELACRFT • MFR #LA-CRF-T to attack to your DSLR body. Those (2) pieces will now screw together.

Q: 7. Would the TeleVue 40mm Plossl eyepiece focus OK with this scope?

A: Yes, the Tele Vue Plossl 40mm eyepiece will fit in the Pentax scope. The Pentax scope can use any 1.25 eyepiece. But it hasn't been tested to our knowledge, so your results may vary.

Q: 9. I wear glasses. Can you tell me If the eye relief is good on this scope. Also what eyepieces would you recommend if this is my first scope and I am using it for birding?

A: Yes this scope would be good for someone that wears Glasses, and needs good Eye Relief. The Pentax XF smc 6.5-19.5mm Zoom Eyepiece (1.25") would be a good choice for Birding. Link to Eyepiece: https://bhpho.to/2JaipuN

A: Yes there is.

I wanted top end optics, something I can proudly use and leave to the next generation, and this is it. Clarity throughout the zoom range is the best I've seen, and I've read it compares favorably with the two best known names in optics... for less cost. It's a large scope and should have a sturdy tripod/mount, so that's next on my list. To those wondering; yes, this is worth the expense.

I can't think of anything negative to say about this scope and I am pretty fussy when it comes to optics. Well balanced, light, smooth focusing, very sharp optics, and the best part is I can use any 1 1/4 astronomical eyepiece many of which are far superior to the zooms found on spotting scopes. Wider field, better eye relief, more contrast, less internal reflections, and much less light loss at higher powers. A 30mm average field eyepiece gives almost a four degree field- wide enough to follow birds on the wing. Congratulations to Pentax for getting it right!

With the Meopta S2 20-70x Eyepiece it is better at all magnifications than my Razor spotting scope, however it did cost ~$1,000 dollars more.
My shooting partner and I had a chance to shoot 1,027yds, 1,119yds and 1,700+yds which is why I tried this spotting scope.
My Razor would have been fine up to the 1,119yds but the Meopta just made it much more easy to spot even at this distance.
At 1,700+yds the Meopta made a big difference in actually spotting impacts.
If you can afford to buy it I would say you will not be disappointed with the clarity and ease of focus at any distance.
If you are spotting Birds or looking at the Night Sky this is a very color accurate choice with a greater depth of field at all magnifications.

I use the scope for wild life viewing and range shooting. Great scope for the money and the 30x60 Wide angle lens piece is great. No color aberation or fringing. Focus is very smooth. The only negative I have is I wish there were more options to go with the scope.

Very durable case that stays on the scope to keep it protected. I expect it will last a long time.

Easy to install and covers the scope perfectly, even with the lens caps on both ends. I'm one who carries my scopes and tripods loose in the back of my Jeep with chairs, table and the dog's crate. No dings or scratches yet. Highly recommended.

I’ve had all the big names. All of them. This is my go to scope. The 20X - 70X zoom Is incredible. It came with a carbon tripod, but I use my gitzo 1555T since it’s so much lighter, and just as stable. I do a lot of birding, range shooting; and hunting, and there is nothing this scope can’t do. I cannot notice a difference between this scope and the other high end scopes, except for the Swarovski ATX. But at less than half the price, the Meostar wins if I can only pick one scope for best value. I had to really work to find anything I liked better on the ATX than the Meostar. I actually like the focus ring on the Meostar better, and the quicker focusing. The only thing the ATX had on the Meostar was that I noticed the SLIGHTEST bit of better detail in shadows and low light. If I had to buy one scope for the rest of my life, this Meostar S2 is it. Swarovski better watch out- Meopta is coming. I’m now selling the Swarovski cause I’m always nervous about using it, or having it stolen. Get my money back out of it, and be able to get the Meostar out and enjoy it cause it’s less than half the cost with pretty much the same quality of glass. It’s a no brainer for me.
