Q: 1. Why is this converter box not compatible with the Sony HDR-FX7 camera?

A: The specs for input is shown below, and it specifically says that the Sony HDR-FX7 will not work. It does not say why, but the Sony HDR-FX7 is 1440x1080 which may be the answer. 720 x 480 interlaced (NTSC) 720 x 576 interlaced (PAL) 1280 x 720 / 50Hz progressive 1280 x 720 / 59.94Hz progressive 1280 x 720 / 60Hz progressive 1920 x 1080 / 50Hz interlaced 1920 x 1080 / 59.94Hz interlaced 1920 x 1080 / 60Hz interlaced 1920 x 1080pConnections Input: HDMI Output: 2x BNC connectors for HD/SD-SDI Audio: HDMI audio is embedded into the SDI output. Note: The DAC-9P is not compatible with the HDMI output from the Sony HDR-FX7 camera. The DAC-9P is compatible with other Sony cameras. The Sony HVR-V1 and the Sony HVR-HD1000U have been tested and are compatible with the DAC-9P.

Q: 2. Has anyone used this to input HDMI from PC to an SDI input , on the BMD 1 M/E Switcher? We tried using a Decimator MD-HX and have not had any luck. Thanks!

A: 1st, your Payload: BMD ATEM by default is 1080i / 59.94; Delivery: SMPTE Level B. Your Decimator MD-HX, those are configured by default as Output Converters. Install the Decimator control Panel to configure (Decimator)as an Input Converter. It will do what you want. The DAC-70s are SMPTE Level A. At 1080i / 59.94, they will work as long as the Payload remains 1080i / 59.94. Delivery: SMPTE Level A or B, does not matter at that rate. We use both DAC-70's & Decimators, among other Converters, with our BMD ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4K Video Switch. Hope that helps!

Q: 3. I have a Free To Air Satellite Receiver that receives and displays most Ku Band Satellite TV channels in 720p HD format, which is watchable but oftentimes annoying; nowhere near the 1080i quality I would like. So if I ran an HDMI cable from the Free To Air satellite reciever to the Up Converter, and another HDMI cable from the converter to my TV, will I get the nice crystal clear detailed 1080i picture instead? Or will it still look fuzzy and kind of out of focus? I'm willing to blow the money for your product if it will display in true clear detailed 1080i quality. I hope you can please let me know. Thanks!

A: This is a great converter. I've bought a few of them for various applications. It will absolutely do the conversion you're asking about. The quality you get on the output will be entirely dependant upon what you put in. If your source is HD then you can expect a good picture going up to 1080.

Q: 4. does it embeds RCA Audio Input onto HDMI Output (just like what DAC-8P does, if we want to chose audio from RCA instead of HD-SDI)? please refer here a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/867307-REG/Datavideo_dac8p_HD_SD_SDI_T_HDMI_Converter_Up.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/867307-REG/Datavideo_dac8p_HD_SD_SDI_T_HDMI_Converter_Up.html/a

A: Using the analog audio input it will embed audio onto the HDMI output.

Q: 5. Does this allow for a usb out? It shows a usb port but doesn't mention it in the specs

A: The mini-USB port is used only for device control (using Windows-only software) and firmware updates.Google dac-70 manual for more info.

Q: 6. is it 4:1:1 or 4:2:2?

A: This camera is listed as 4:1:1.

Q: 7. Is the VGA port set to the Full RGB Standard (0-255) or the Reduced RGB (16-235)?

A: VGA (RGB) 800x600@60Hz, 1024x768@60Hz, 1280x1024@60Hz 1366x768@60Hz, 1400x1050@60Hz,1600x1200@60Hz 1280x720@60Hz, 1920x1080@60Hz

Q: 8. Anyone know the processing delay? Want to bring a consumer HDMI camera into a 720p system, for IMAG. Thanks in advance for your input.

A: No delay. I have used it for IMAG. SOLID PERFORMANCE.

Q: 9. Will this camera work with the Vaddio ProductionVIEW Super Joystick?

A: Sorry, no. It will work with a Datavideo controller like this one. Datavideo RMC-190 Camera Controller for PTC-120 B&H # DARMC190.

Q: 10. Eternally grateful for your input... If input VGA at 1024x768 and it is set to output at 1080, will I see pillar boxes and a slight letterbox at the top since it is outputting 1:1 or will it fit to the vertical height? How about for 720? Thanks!!! Steve

A: We are using it similar to what you are describing. If you put VGA in and set output to 1080 it will be full screen. As far as 720, we have not used it yet.Lenny
