Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the aperture (Nikon F vers.) be controlled from the camera? That is, does it stop down only when the shutter fires?

A: The Rokinon 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC Lens for Nikon F Mount aperture cannot be controlled from the camera. The aperture needs to be set manually on the lens.

Q: 2. Is the aperture ring on this lens declicked for cine/video work ? What is the difference between this lens & Rokinon’s Cine line of lenses ? I would use as a prime on my FS7

A: It is not, this does not offer a de-clicked aperture. That is one of the main differences between this and a Rokinon Cine lens like B&H # RO5015TSE. Rokinon Cine Lenses offer a de-clicked aperture and have lens gears built in for use with Follow Focus Systems. https://bhpho.to/2psJeOp

Q: 3. does this work on the a6100?

A: Yes, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.4 GM Lens (Sony E) is as full frame lens that works perfectly on the Sony a6100.

Q: 4. Does this lens come with contacts for EXIF support and aperture control?

A: This is a fully manual lens, including aperture.

Q: 5. Are there any lens filters available for this lens? Polarizer?

A: There are no filter threads on this lens.

Q: 6. Does the aperture ring click?

A: Yes, the TTArtisan 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. Lens for Leica M has defined clicks at both the full-stop and half-stop aperture settings.

Q: 7. Lens shade?

A: I would recommend a metal screw-on lens hood like this B+W 49mm diameter threaded lens hood. This particular one has been engineered to work well with the 50mm focal length: https://bhpho.to/34OXNQ5

Q: 8. will the aperture remain wide open when not taking a photo, only going to the selected setting when the shutter is pressed?

A: No, the aperture will adjust according to the aperture that is set on the aperture ring of the Rokinon 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount. The aperture does not stop down like in an auto exposure lens. This is a fully manually exposure lens, so the aperture only changes when you change the aperture ring.

Q: 9. does it come calibrated out of the box?

A: The TTArtisan 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. Lens for Leica M is set to a standard but not specifically calibrated.

Q: 10. What's FOV angle of this lens when used with 2/3 5MP sensor?

A: 2/3 sensor, 8mm lens = FOV H 57.62 degrees, V 4483 degrees.

50mm 1.4 is a must have lens for every photographers bag. One of the best Nikon values out there. Super sharp at all f stops. Can't be beat for low light work.

This lens is amazing!!! I'm new to the photography game and although I dont have a full frame camara, yet, this lens has opened so many doors for me and my D3100. I have had it for one week, and already have done 3 photo shoots, and I have 2 more scheduled for this weekend!!! All because of this amazing lens!! Ill have my D800 soon enough!!

I own a Nikon D90 and was looking for a second lens to go with my 18-200mm. I wanted a fast lens for portraits and low light situations and that nice Bokeh we all look for. What swayed me to buy it now was the price. At less than $$, I couldn't pass it up.Also, the fact that it is sharp and contrasty wide open at 1.4 is great too. I read many reviews before buying it, people saying the good things and bad things about it. As far as focus speed, it's fast enough for me, not bad that that I notice anything.I love the shallow depth of field, and the extra stop basically allows me to shoot in almost pitch black dark. It seems to render colors more naturally as well.

The 50mm f/1.4G is an amazing lens! Tack sharp, and very fast. I find myself constantly returning to this lens for all sorts or shoots; it is extremely versatile. 50mm is not too long, not too wide, its perfect! Focusing is really fast, not the fastest I've ever used but much faster than many others; and the lens is physically very light. Fantastic bokeh and really great vignette.

This is a must have lens if you want to click amazing bokeh pictures without spending a ton of money. I wouldn't necessarily call this the best low light lens due to the shallow depth of field it provides.Yes you can move behind and increase the depth of field at f1.4 but I guess you don't have much options here Compared to a 50mm 1.8 this is more expensive but definitely worth the money. Is it good on dx, definitely yes Will it help you take better pictured than your kit lens, in some regards yes Is it the best portrait lens - no there are better ones but on dx it would be a pretty close one

I have a Nikon d5100 and had been using the lens that was included with the camera body. I mainly photograph my 2 year old daughter and decided to purchase a prime lens to focus on portraits. I consulted with several amateur/hobby photographers and all agreed that the performance of the 1.4 was well worth the extra expense over the 1.8 especially for indoor use. I could not be happier with the photos I'm getting with this lens. The lighting is beautiful in every shot, and the background blur achieved with the 1.4 gives me exactly the portrait style images I was hoping for.

I am a freelance portrait and event photographer. The Nikkor 50mm 1.4G is incredibly sharp throughout. Of course wide open at 1.4 you need to be very careful as your depth of field is so thin. I think many experience softness b/c of poor technique and not so much b/c of the lens itself. I'm a huge fan. I had the 50mm 1.8D and recently upgraded and I'm very glad that I did, even though the 50mm 1.8D was also great, especially for what it cost. Definitely recommend this lens.
