The 58mm NanoPro MC Clear-Night Filter from Haida is designed to reduce the appearance of light pollution in images or video that include the night sky, and to minimize illumination from artificial light sources. This effect can be obtained when the filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with the daylight white balance setting selected.

Light pollution occurs in areas of the night sky that are above or near concentrated and intense sources of artificial light, such as cities. These sources can include streetlamps, exterior and interior lamps for commercial or residential buildings, sports and entertainment venue lighting, and brightly lit advertisements such as billboards. Together, they can result in a type of light pollution known as skyglow, where individual stars, the Milky Way, and other astronomical features in the night sky are obscured. Additionally, artificial lights clustered together can become difficult to discern individually. Light pollution from these "cluttered" sources can become a source of distraction within an image, and can resemble overexposed areas of glare.

The Haida 58mm NanoPro MC Clear-Night Filter can improve the results of nighttime images by absorbing the yellow light from sodium-vapor lamps, a common light source within urban areas. By preventing the dominant wavelengths of light associated with the color of those lamps from being recorded, the filter enhances visibility of astronomical objects. It ensures that, in the places where they do appear, artificial light sources are more clearly defined, with less glare and improved contrast.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coatings, which also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help keep it clean for a longer period of time. The Nano coating associated with the 58mm MC Clear-Night Filter provides an additional layer that results in an improved beading effect when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

An aluminum alloy ring ensures durability while allowing the 58mm NanoPro MC Clear-Night Filter to remain lightweight. A plastic case is included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these compatible with the freewell magnetic filter system so I can stack or use with other filters or the freewell adapter ring?

A: No, the Haida NanoPro Magnetic Clear Night Filter without Adapter Ring (82mm) only works with the Haida system.

Q: 2. Can I use this filter with NiSi V5 Pro 100mm filter holder?

A: As far as I know, all 100mm filters will fit any appropriate holder.

Q: 3. Do these filters have the foam at the back to block light like the Lee big and little stopper filters? Will they fit in the Lee filter holder?

A: Yes a foam gasket is on the back of this filter and it will fit the Lee 100mm holders.

Q: 4. Does this filter work with any other metal UV filter placed on the lens?

A: Unfortunately, the Haida NanoPro Magnetic Clear Night Filter (82mm) does not work with any other metal UV filter placed on the lens. It requires the Haida 82mm Magnetic Adapter Ring screwed onto the lens or the front of your UV filter if it has 82mm diameter filter threads and then you can use the Haida NanoPro Magnetic Clear Night Filter (82mm) over the adapter ring. https://bhpho.to/3xTA7FZ

Q: 5. Will this fit in Lee filter holder?

A: Yes, the Haida 100 x 100mm NanoPro MC Clear-Night Filter will fit in the Lee filter holder.

Q: 6. Does this filter have a light gasket to avoid light leak when in filter holders?

A: It comes with gasket

Q: 7. WHAT OTHER BRAND 105mm CPL FILTERS CAN BE FITTED TO LEE 105mm CPL ADAPTER ONTO LEE 100mm FILTER HOLDER?

A: As long as you have this 105mm adapter on your Lee foundation kit: https://bhpho.to/2cujqJ5 You will be able to use any filter that has 105mm threads such as this Haida 105mm circular polarizer.

Q: 8. Why is this filter Red?

A: The filters are coated on both side and at certain angles, the filter surfaces reflect certain colors. However, the light going through the filter and the lens is not this color but a neutral one. There will be no adverse affect on your image.

Q: 9. Does this filter fits in NiSi V6 filter holder?

A: Yes, the Haida NanoPro CPL Circular Polarizing Filter (100 x 100mm) would be compatible for use in the NiSi V6 100mm Filter Holder.

Q: 10. did anyone compare this Hoida filter with NiSi or Breakthrough night sky filters. Both Nisi and Breakthrough are more expensive, but is there any advantage?

A: The NiSi is a bit better glass and slightly more correct with color than the Haida, however not by too much. If I needed to rank them I would say 1. NiSi, 2. Haida, 3. Breakthrough
