The Tiffen 5 x 5" 1 Skyfire Graduated Filter helps to specifically add a unique orange to yellow gradient to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 1 color density provides less skyfire coloration than the 2 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 5 x 5" / 127 x 127mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this with a 13-24mm lens?

A: Yes. Direct If it has 82mm threads or use step up ring.

Q: 2. Please recommend a filter holder that will accommodate a Cavision 4 x 5.65 ND grad filter.

A: You can use 4 x 5.65 filters in the Formatt Hitech 100mm Aluminum Modular Filter Holder: http://bhpho.to/1gAkNAA

Q: 3. Is the format Hitech 82mm Grad ND a glass filter?

A: Yes, it is a glass filter

Q: 4. Does it come with plastic case?

A: Yes.

Q: 5. will this fit in NiSi v6 holder ?

A: Yes, this filter being 100mm wide and 2mm thick would fit into the NiSi v6 Filter Holder.

Q: 6. Does the filter have threads on both sides?

A: Yes, the 7artisans Photoelectric 82mm GND0.9 Filter is threaded on both sides.

Q: 7. what's the difference between the coarse thread compared to the normal ones?

A: Coarse threads screw on and off faster than the normal ones. However, you need to make sure that your filter holder is threaded correctly. I live in Clearwater Fl., which is fairly sandy. If I used fine threaded filters, and got a grain of sand in the threads there is a good chance the threads would be stripped because of the thinness of the metal in the threading. While the coarse thread filters can also be stripped, I have yet to ruin one. For me, its just a personal choice, but I make sure all of my filters are compatible. I also have put filter adapter rings on all of my lenses to make them all take 77mm filters and lens caps. I have 8 lenses (including an 80-400mm Nikon Zoom and my largest diameter is 77mm so I took all of my lenses to that size. It eliminates purchasing duplicate filters in multiple sizes and makes all of my lens caps fit all of my lenses.

Q: 8. I wanted to double check that this filter does in fact have front filter threds for stacking other filters because one buyer said it did not have front threads. Can soneone confirm that it does have front threads? Thank you.

A: Yes, this filter has front threads.

Q: 9. I have the LEE 100mm foundation kit with the 105mm CPL. Can I use this Hitech filter in front of my CPL - And then thread the CPL filter on to this graduated filter?

A: No, this filter rotates like the polarizer. It'll be too hard to see the effect of the ND moving around and the polarizer moving. I found it hard enough to see the effect of the 2 stop ND thru my lens in dawn light. I had to put a mark on the metal ring to see where the center of the top of the filter is so I could quickly set up the shot.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the Cokin P system holder?

A: The Formatt Hitech 85 x 110mm Firecrest Graduated ND 0.6 Filter (Vertical Orientation) are 2mm thick and the Cokin P brand holders use filters that are 1.6 mm thick. It will be very very tight to use those.
