Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do these mics produce two mono signals, meaning the left mic is the left channel and the other mic is on the right channel? Or are they mixed into stereo, both mics on the right and left channel? Thanks!

A: Each microphone is sent to a separate channel (left and right).

Q: 2. will it work with a zoom?

A: The EX-503 will be compatible with devices that have a 3.5mm mic input jack and are able to supply plug in power to the mic. This includes the Zoom H1, H2 and H4N recorders.

Q: 3. does this mic require 48v phantom power?

A: No, this mic is designed to be used with body pack wireless transmitters that supply 2-10 vdc.

Q: 4. Are the clips removable?

A: yes.

Q: 5. Thanks for answering previous question. At Azden I see Azden EX-503 | Azden EX-503L | Azden EX-503H. I dint understand the potential difference among them in terms of sound quality. How to choose among these three.I want you use it for interview and documentary work with zoom H1, which one should i look for? How is the ambient sound cancellation?

A: My 14 yo has been using this item for interviews and is very happy. He has used it for school, small buisness, and religious events. There is some ambient noise when background noise is high but for routine interviews and recording speeches it works well. Value for cost is good.

Q: 6. Will these mics work with Canon Vixia camcorders? What is the best wired mic for use with these canon vixia camcorders?

A: Canon Vixia camcorders are not able to supply power to mics that require it such as the Azden EX-503. You will need to use a mic that is able to supply its own power which is generally by a battery. The Polsen OLM-10 is one example which features a small battery inline.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with SONY WRT820A transmitter?

A: We would not recommend using a microphone that does not specifically say that it is wired for Sony mics. Sony has their own proprietary pin configuration. This mic, however is wired for a Sony 4-pin hirose transmitter. B&H # SOECM44BC.

Q: 8. Is ex503h mic compatible with sony WRT820A?

A: I am afraid not. The Azden employs a 4-pin mini Hirose Your bodypack uses SONY's proprietary SMC9-4P connector. The pin-assignment may be different:Pin 1: +5 voltsPin 2: HotPin 3: ColdPin 4: Ground

Q: 9. Can this mic work with 48v phantom power?

A: No, this mic requires plug-in power, which is 2 to 10 VDC.

Q: 10. Is Azden EX-503H compatible with SONY WRT820A transmitter?

A: This mic is not compatible with the Sony WRT820A. You would need a mic with a twist-on 4-pin connector that is wired for Sony, such as the Countryman B3 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (Black), B&H # COB3SOBRS.
