The E-Image 9" Articulating Monitor Arm allows you to attach up to a 3 lb monitor to your camera cage or directly to your camera. Each end of the arm features a 1/4"-20 post, and both a shoe mount adapter and 1/4"-20 converter are included to let you mount the arm directly onto your camera's hot shoe. The arm has three points of articulation that are all locked at the same time when you tighten the center wingnut.

I don't see a way to mount the Tascam into one of the holes in the cage without having to turn the whole arm (rather than being able to tighten the knob to secure the male end of the screw into the hole). A: You have it right. You have to turn the whole arm into the screw hole, tighten it, then adjust the arm using the large knob.
