Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How will these work between an audio interface and a pair of powered nearfield monitors?Which is ideal, balanced or unbalanced cables?Thank you.

A: The Hosa HSS-005 is a solid choice for a well priced quality cable. Powered monitor inputs and audio interface outputs are generally designed to be used with balanced cables. This is usually noted in the documentation, and in the case of the monitors printed directly on the unit. The benefit of a balanced cable would be superior rejection of RF into the cable vs. an unbalanced cable. This will come into play for longer cable runs.

Q: 2. Is this cable balanced?

A: The Hosa Technology MXM-015 Camcorder Microphone Cable (XLR Female) is an unbalanced cable.

Q: 3. Are all 4 pins wired?

A: NO! The wire is 2 conductor, and only pins 1 & 4 are connected. Does not work as power/control cable for TigerTilt pan-tilt head. Disappointing!

Q: 4. I am looking at a Rode NTG-2 microphone to use on a boom pole. Would this be the correct cable to use for extending the distance? The NTG-2 comes with a Kopul LMT100. Would it be better to purchase a cable that has a male and female mini and use it in conjunction with the Kopul cable.

A: I dad to return this particular one because of a defect. But this is the correct cable for you.

Q: 5. Can this cable be used as an extension for the Godox vl 150 or Aputure 120d lights for use in studio setting

A: This cable would work as a power extension for the Godox vl 150, as it has a 4 pin XLR connector. The Aputure 120d however requires a 5 pin XLR power connector and this cable would not work with it.

Q: 6. (1) Can you give the specific pin wiring for this cable? I need pins 2-3-1 of the Neutrik XLR wired respectively to the Tip, Ring, and Sleeve of the mini plug for use with a RED Epic microphone input from standard XLR mic out.(2) Is the angle of the cable out of the Neutrik connector user-adjustable to different positions? I would need the cable to outlet at a counterclockwise right angle to the standard configuration shown in the photo.(3) How flexible is the cable? It appears so thick that it would lack malleability in a 1.5 foot length.

A: The Hosa MXM-001.5RS is wired to the standard, Pin 2 to Tip, Pin 3 to Ring, Pin 1 to Sleeve. The XLR connector is non rotating and oriented according to the photo provided. The conductors are 24 gauge allowing some flexibility in the cable.

Q: 7. Can this cable be placed in wall?

A: The Mogami Gold Stage is not designed for in wall applications. These would be designed for stage or applications where the cable will be heavily used. When running cable in wall building codes would need to be observed as well.

Q: 8. Is this a stereo cable? need it for electric piano to receiver...

A: This is not meant to be stereo cable. However it will work as stereo cable. Just to keep in mind - this cable is more for PA systems or average home studio systems and not of a category for high end audio or hifi audio. This cable seems to have higher resistance than normal stereo cable in my experience.

Q: 9. SO I can use this cable to go from an SM58 to my cell phone?

A: No. Look at irig products by ikmultimedia.

Q: 10. Can I use this Hosa Technology Pro REAN XLR Female to 1/4 TS Hi-Z Microphone Cable to the out put of the Behringer MIC100 preamp and connect it to my guitar amp (with 1/4 TS unbalanced input connector)?

A: This cable will allow you to connect the output of a mic preamp to your guitar amp. This application however is not generally recommended mostly due to the guitar amps being midrange heavy which causes feedback issues with microphones, also the preamp outputs a line level signal which is hotter than the instrument level signal most guitar amps are designed for.

We use these cables in varying lengths at our nightclub. The male connector has a very solid feel when we hook them into microphones and does not come loose or move around. Sound is excellent when using these cables. We have been using these cables for a few years without any problems caused by the product or craftsmanship.
