Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it accommodate a lens foot?

A: Yes.

Q: 2. Will the medium rain sleeve work with a Nikon d 610 and a long tank like 80 to 200d?

A: I've used this raincoat on my D750 with a 70-200mm lens to shoot football games in the rain. Once I got used to working with the cover and my hands inside for focusing and shooting I had no issues and the camera and lens stayed nice and dry.

Q: 3. What size would work for the Sony A1 and the Sony 100-400mm lens? What about the A1 and the 200-600mm lens? Thanks.

A: The LensCoat RainCoat Medium Sleeve (Black) is the best size for the a1 and the Sony 100-400mm lens; for the a1 and the Sony 200-200mm lens, the LensCoat RainCoat Large Sleeve (Black) is the correct size.

Q: 4. How well does it work with an Olympus OMD E-1 MkII and 300 mm lens or shorter?

A: It will work, the small may work as well, it depends on which 300mm lens you have.

Q: 5. Will this medium sleeve work well with Nikon D500 and Nikon 500 f5.6 PFED LENS?

A: That sleeve will work with the D500 and the Nikon 500mm F5.6 P F ED as the total length is less than 15 inches.

Q: 6. Hi, does this case have any way to access the focus ring?

A: No, not really. If you are looking for a cover that allows access to the lens, I would recommend the Think Tank Hydrophobia, click on the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2lUbMAP

Q: 7. My setup: Canon 5D Mark II, 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM, 2x Extender III, ET-86 hood. It's 16 in length including the hood. I don't need to cover the entire hood which seems like this rain cover will work. Will it? Any other thoughts? My main concern is the larger covers (for 300mm, 400mm lenses) will be too big.

A: My setup is almost identical except that my camera is a Mark III (same size) and I don't use an extender. I use this rain cover extensively while shooting night high school football games in the rain. I especially like the way opening allows for access to the lens zoom control. I just returned from a trip to the Galapagos Islands where rain is always a threat. The cover was used several times. It goes on easily and stores conveniently when not in use. Hope this helps.

Q: 8. Is it made of Gore Tex or breathable-water proof fabric?

A: It is made from a breathable water proof fabric.

Q: 9. I'm trying to decide which style of camera rain coat I should buy. Has anyone who has used this model ever wished it had either the clear plastic back with an eyepiece that some do or the kind with sleeves to reach through?

A: I bought the above rain coat without the clear back for several reasons. First I want to easily get to the dials and buttons on top of the camera. Second, I wanted to have a sleeve that I could adjust and use on my cameras with lenses from the 17-40 to the 100-400 mm. With the ability to loosen the front and back and adjust for whatever lens I had on the camera. It worked great on a trip the coast of Washington which included The Olympic rain forest where I had the sleeve on my camera the entire time. It also fit on my 7D mark II and 1D mark III cameras. Ed M.

Q: 10. Can this sleeve also be used for shorter lenses like a 50mm 1.2L on a 5DM2?

A: I am not sure of the overall length of the set up you are describing. However, this system is very flexible. You will note that it has a drawsting on the lens end. This can be drawn down onto just about any lens. The rest is just velcro and fabric. Should work.

This jacket works well in the rain as it should. I used to be cheap and use plastic bags with holes cut in them for the lens. While fairly effective, it was always too fiddly and never kept my camera entirely dry or gave me good functionality. This raincoat is easy to use and effective, and I should've bought it sooner. If you work in a wet climate, you need this coat. It's worth your money.

I use the SpiderPro for wildlife photography. Generally I use a large tripod mounted lens and then a smaller lens & body (Nikon 300mm f4pf) in the holster for when wildlife comes too close for the big lens. I also sometimes put a second body only in the holster so I can quickly change from full to crop body on the tripod mounted lens. I like the secure manner that it holds the camera. While not as quick on the draw as the Black Rapid strap I used to use, I like that the camera is not swinging around hitting things. Highly recommended.

I bought this product during a sale and got it for $30.00 with free shipping. I went with the medium black even though my camera only needs to cover 10 inches, but it works perfectly despite my short camera setup. Since it works on my camera and lens, (nikon d7200 + Sigma 18 - 35mm) I will have the ability to use it on much longer telescopic lenses that I may purchase in the future (Sigma 150 - 600mm). I would only recommend the medium size for people who have 10 inches of camera to cover or more, anything less and it doesn't fold very forgivingly, but I suppose you could make it work. Something that surprised me is the amount of velcro on this thing. Basically the entire underside of the coat is a 2cm line of well stitched velcro for ease in mounting to a tripod. The only spot that does not contain velcro is the 5cm near the tip where it is double stitched. I was most worried about the velcro strap that secures the coat to the lens when I purchased this, but it turns out to be very well made and should not break anytime soon. The drawstrings impressed me. They are really strong and would not be found on some cheap $15 Jansports pack. Everything about the design and build of this thing is completely solid. I expect it to last me a long time.

Haven't rain tested the rain sleeve yet but I have slipped it on my 5D IV and 70-200mm lens mounted on a Wimberly gimbal head. I think it will work just fine.

I use this with a Nikon D810/24-120mm. It is a little long with this lens but it's easy to adjust the cover's length. The camera controls are mostly accessible, but I use a remote shutter release anyway. I like that the camera's live view screen is plainly visible, if you want it to be. The cover is easy to put on because the bottom has a Velcro fastener that runs almost the cover's full length, making it easy to adjust the zoom. As for the waterproof factor, it seems more than adequate. I got it on sale, screaming good deal!

The RainCoat RS did its job and my camera and lens (T4i/Canon 24-70mm) stayed dry during the snow and wind. There was room to manually zoom and otherwise manipulate settings. It actually helped keep my hands warm and dry. This rain sleeve was not made for any attachments like my remote trigger so that's something to consider. I am happy with my purchase.

Overall this is an excellent rain hood with all the necessities built in. I have tested in the snow and heavy water (basin of a waterfall with pouring rain simultaneously) without any moisture making its way through the material. The design is simple with no frills but accomplishes everything I would expect from a protective shell. Tripod mount access is simple; just grab at the two tabs on the bottom of the velcro seal and voila. Viewfinder/panel screen access to the camera body is a simple drawstring that opens wide enough for your hands to access any buttons on the top/sides of your body. The only gripe I have with this (or any protective coat) is the sliding of the front attachment element when zooming your lens in and out. The material surrounding the forward draw string is not grippy enough to hold onto the lens hood when adjusting the zoom level of the lens. This is easily fixed by applying some grippy material to the lens hood. Another caution I would give to anyone considering this shell is to oversize the coat to whatever lens you are coupling to and ensure to take into consideration the full extension length of zoom lenses with their hood attached. Regardless of my small gripes, this still easily deserves five stars.
