The black Pelican 1654 Waterproof 1650 Case with Yellow and Black Divider Set is an unbreakable, watertight, airtight, dustproof, chemical resistant and corrosion proof hard case used to carry any kind of equipment that needs to be protected from the elements. It is made of Ultra-high Impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. It has a 0.25" (6.4 mm) neoprene O-ring, ABS latches that seal perfectly and includes an automatic purge valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure.

The 1654 comes with a top handle, oversized side handle, a retractable extension handle and strong polyurethane wheels with stainless steel bearings. It has an effortless release latch for the extension handle. The padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft.

A divider kit with a full sewn tub with felt exterior, and a padded, touch-fastening, divider set is included. Elastic hold-down straps help secure gear. The dividers feature a hi-visibility yellow Nylex covering.

A: Yes you can, take the padding out and you can but a sleeve with the adhesive to connect it. Pelican cases are amazing.

Q: 8. I noticed that when I put my dslr in the pelican 1560 (using padded dividers) there is a lot of empty space on top of the camera between it and the padded lid. Won't the camera bounce up and down when I'm moving the case or wheeling it around? Won't that damage the camera?

A: Sure it can bounce up and down.... Find a smaller piece of foam to fit that compartment.. I actually use a folded up wash cloth to secure my camera tighter

A: We used it for a profilometer. Very heavy duty and protective case.

This thing rocks. The sturdiness and quality is there. Will be very heavy when it's full of gear. Lugging it up a flight of stairs can get you winded. I have 3 DSLRS, 4 lenses, recorder, mics, wireless mic and receiver, and every other little doodad I could ever need for a wedding in here and I STILL have room to grow. That's good. Only downside that I see so far is that the foam isn't quite RIGID enough for me... It starts off rigid enough, but has already become kind of 'flappy' and loose a little bit. Not bad, but still. I believe there's a spray product I could spray all over the foam to kinda glue it together. I think I'll do that. 5

I use the 1650 now as my studio in a box for location work. It's the size of an international suitcase. I considered getting two smaller pelicans versus one big one but in the end went for the simplicity of one generous case. There is something satisfying about opening up the case and hearing the air lock release. If you have done your research you will know that Pelican's are indestructible but the pay off is the weight. A price you have to pay for the durability and the air/water/dust tight seal. The wheels are solid under the weight of a loaded case. I have dragged it across rocks, gravel and just yesterday through a cow paddock with uneven ground, dirt and grass. I avoided any 'cow pucks', thank goodness. It's a good feeling knowing that everything inside is protected from dust! I used to carry 2 camera bags, 1 utility bin and I attached it all with bunji cords to a dolly. Wrestling through bags and the bin was time consuming and no matter how well I organised things ahead of time, things soon fell into chaos. I love opening the case and seeing everything I need and might need in clear view. Everything has a place and it's a no-brainer to drop back into place when shuffling and changing out gear. Regrets: I waited so long to get one. Cons: I am a woman and so the weight is a bit of a challenge but I needed a good excuse to build upper body strength! 5

I use this case to secure my Celestron C6, eyepieces, camera, and accessories. Everything is nice and secure, no matter what orientation. The handles are sturdy and the wheels are quiet and smooth. Walking with the case on its wheels is effortless, even with its bulk. Overall it's worth the investment as your equipment is organized and protected. 5

As an advanced amateur photographer for more than 50 years, finding the perfect camera bag and/or case for my equipment has always been the most difficult thing to satisfy me. This case fit my equipment perfectly. I have 2 Canon DSLR bodies, 7d & SL1, 7 Canon lenses from 10mm to 400mm, 3 chargers with extra batteries, Canon flash, LED light with charger, 1.4x extender and some filters & extra flash cards. And all this equipment fit in this case without any cutting, since it comes with pick 'n' pluck foam. Another thing I like is that I can redesign the custom fit with the foam I had removed or just buy a new set of foam pieces. The outer shell is tough & waterproof and will last a lifetime. The case weighs about 29 lbs. and with the equipment in it, it's probably over 50 lbs. So, unless you are a weight lifter, you aren't going to be moving this around much. Here's the way I use the case. I have a backpack for lesser equipment that I use for short shoots near my home. But, when I travel long distances, I can just put the Pelican case in the back of my small SUV and I've got everything I may need for any situation. For me tripods are always difficult to haul around and I guess you can fit some tripods in this case, but I didn't even try, so if I could give this case one thing I don't like, is maybe they could have had some clips or something so that I could attach my tripod to the outside of the case. 5
