This 4 x 4" polyester Combination 81EF Pale Amber & ND Filter combines the extreme warming capabilities of an 81EF with a 3-stop Neutral Density filter.The 81 Series of filters control the bluish coloration that affects daylight film. They can also remove excessive blue from the effects of electronic flash. Good for general scenics when the photographer wishes to remove the bluish cast from open shade or just add warmth to the photograph, with an 81EF having the greatest effect.

The 81EF decreases color temperature from 3850 - 3200 degrees Kelvin.

A: Technically, yes, you could use it, but the sun will may likely still be overexposed. To get a properly exposed sun, you need a special solar eclipse filter that is far darker. A: Hi Christian, Yes, it will work, you'll just need a 72mm adapter for whatever filter holder you're using. My recommendation is a Lee Filter holder and a 72mm lens filter adapter. If you have a lens that takes a larger filter size, say a 77mm, then I'd get a 77mm adapter and a 77mm to 72mm step down ring. That way you don't have too many adapters. Hope this helps.mick

Q: 5. Will this filter fit inside a standard mattebox 4x4 tray? We use the Genus Matte Box Lite and use Tiffin 4x4 filters without a problem, however the Tiffin 1,8 ND is twice the price of the Lee filter.The Lee filter has foam around the sides and is thinner than the Tiffin which is 4mm thick... so not sure it was meant for use in a matte box like the Genus. A: It will fit but be a somewhat tight fit because of the foam on the filter.

A: While not tested, we feel that there should be no issue using this filter in that holder.

A: Yes. That is true. I get blue tint with it. But if you shoot in RAW this can easily be corrected in post processing later.

A: Both the CPL and the VND involve rotating part of the filter and usually, these filters do not have front filter threads, making it impossible to mount another filter.
