Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is compatible with samsung galaxy s5?

A: Yes, it is!

Q: 2. Could this be used to take a phone call on a radio show? making connections through a audio board?

A: Mix-minus is key to avoiding a feedback loop too.

Q: 3. I need this same cable but in 3 feet, they have it?

A: Yes, we do have the same Sescom cable available in 3 feet. You can find the Sescom SES-IPOD-QTRM03 3.5mm Stereo to Dual 1/4" Mono Audio Cable in 3-foot length listed on our website as B&H # SESIQTRM03 / MFR # SES-IPOD-QTRM03.

Q: 4. how long is each split end?

A: The Manufacturer does not specify the length of the cable at the Y split for the Sescom SES-IPOD-XLRM06 3.5mm Stereo to Dual XLR Male Mono Audio Cable (6').

Q: 5. Will this work with my Macbook Pro?

A: Yes... great device...

Q: 6. We have a small Assisted Hearing Device where the transmitter is a lav, and then the small receiver that also transmits the the signal to the hearing devices. What I'm hoping to do is come out of the headphone jack on the receiver (only output) to the iPad to use that clean audio for my live stream. Will this work for that?

A: Could work.. Give it a shot and let us know.

Q: 7. I bought this cable and I'm have trouble sending time code from the tentacle to the iPhone. maybe I'm doing it wrong. How exactly does this work? Thanks

A: Tentacle normally works in Bluetooth. I receive time code from the Tentacle by downloading the app. The app reads the TC via Bluetooth. I've never used a cord with my iPhone. Hopefully this helps.

Q: 8. Can this actually allow true live monitoring while microphone feeds to iPhone?

A: Yes, the Sescom iPhone / iPod / iPad 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm Mic Jack & 3.5mm Monitor Jack can be used for monitoring while using a microphone to record on the iPhone, as long as the app that you are using provides an amplified output signal that can drive headphones.

Q: 9. Is this cord compatible with the iPad Mini 3? I just got it in the other day and have been running tests on my mini 3. Can get audio to the headphones but cannot get the mic to work. Thought maybe I got a bad cable but now I am thinking maybe it is not compatible at all. :/

A: Andrew, I have to apologize as we have not yet tested with the iPad mini 3. We have tested with the vast majority of Apple products with great success. Most devices from apple are utilizing the same trrs pin-out and handle signals the same way.Its possible that we need to review the product with the iPad mini 3 and test further, its also possible that you received a cable that inst working properly- which is a very rare occurrence with our QC processes. Or another possibility is how garage band is handling the signal itself. Please make sure the cable itself is seated fully in the iPad, and please reach out to us to trouble shoot on the phone. We will not be able to test compatibility until we purchase receive and bench test in our R&D lab.you can reach us at 845.246.1915 or 800-543-0909 - Ask for Sescom Tech support, and or Dan. we can walk you through a few tests that may help us determine the failure point.

Q: 10. Will this work with other phones - a Samsung Galaxy for example? Also, I just need a simple mic to go with it. Any recommendations?

A: This has been designed for compatibility with your iPhone, iPod or Blackberry. It may not work with android devices consistently.

The cable makes my life easier because I don't have to bring with me a lot of equipment so I can record interviews or live broadcast.

Used this product with the iPhone. It splits the analogue audio I/O from a mobile phone so that I can isolate the talk and listen channels. This allows perfectly separated audio for recording or amplification. We use it for a remote producer who needs to listen in to a voice session and direct the talent. Control room, booth, phone - perfect three way communication. Also great for recording a call in guest for podcasts. I use a DI to take my mixer output from LINE to MIC level and into this cable. Very, very practical for the price.

I'm using this to connect Rode NtG2 to an ipad for my kids' filmmaking classes. It's a great compromise for this purpose since 10-year-old attention spans do not allow for synching up sound from another source! This gets the mic closer (using with the Rode micro boom pole) and the sound is crisp and clear.

I use the product to monitor audio recorded from an external microphone (RODE NTG2) into a Canon 5DMkII. I was told by an employee at B&H that other camera audio monitoring solutions (Magic Lantern, etc.) can potentially void the warranty on the Canon camera. Scary. Controlling audio input during recording is overrated. The Sescom is a safe alternative. Just set a healthy audio input level in the settings and let it be. Also, it works on the iPhone!! Amazing. I use my iPhone as a field recorder using the RODE app. I hook up the Sescom cable with a boom pole, shotgun mic, set of heaphones, and my iPhone. Super slick and mobile system. Then I just send the files from my app to my computer via Dropbox.

This was a great buy. I could plug a microphone into my phone and record with minimal equipment. This is easily the best buy i made in a long time.

We do interviews out doors in a park, on an iPhone. While the picture looks great, the audio from the phone is a bit distant and prone to wind, dogs barking and other unwanted distractions. This cable uses the TRRS connection which is the only way to bring an external signal into the phone. Coupled with a basic, dynamic microphone, with a simple foam wind screen, we are able to get very clean, clear audio with in our interviews.

I do audio for network news and when I have a phoner interview, I take a feed off of my mixer to the XLR-F mic input of the TRRS cable and a 1/8" mini jumper from the headphone out to a powered speaker. The remote correspondent hears the person fine and speaker can make them heard on our end plus they have a little scratch track of what's being asked through bleed from the speaker to the microphone. I use an iPhone 6s and the XLR F input prefers mic level but seems to handle line level comfortably. In typical fashion - I own one to use and a backup.
