Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this Mic muteable?

A: The DPA Microphones 4060 Omni Boundary Layer Mic does not have an onboard mute switch but you could use a separate mute switch such as the Rolls MM11 Pro Microphone Mute/Talk Switch (B&H # ROMM11PRO) or the Rolls MS111 Mic Switch - Latching or Momentary Microphone Mute Switch (B&H # ROMS111).

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the Shure ADX1M?

A: Yes, the DPA Microphones DAD6010 Microdot to 3-Pin LEMO Adapter is compatible for use with the Shure ADX1M Digital Micro Bodypack Wireless Transmitter.

Q: 3. Can anyone comment on low frequency or bass sounds recording off piano? The solitary youtube comparison video makes this system sound anemic compared with Earthworks. Thnx

A: If you were comparing these to the Earthworks PM40 Piano system, you may be hearing more resonance in the PM40's lows due to its extended low frequency range. The PM40 can pickup as low as 9hz, where as the DPA's low's start at 80hz.

Q: 4. is this lavalier compatible with my Sennheiser EW 512P G4 wireless system? can I plug it straight into the transmitter?

A: Yes, the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Normal Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Sennheiser Adapter is compatible with Sennheiser EW 512P G4 transmitters.

Q: 5. I'm looking for a clip that will hold a .15" cable securely. Will this clip do that?

A: No, the DPA clip's channel is too narrow since it is designed for use with the DPA d:fine headset mic's cable, which has a diameter of 0.06" (1.6mm). Please feel free to contact us directly by phone or through live chat for further assistance. It would also be helpful to know which microphone you have since manufacturers don't always provide detailed dimensions for mic clips and may only include the models of the microphones they can be used with. Sometimes it's easier to find a compatible clip by using the model of the microphone to search.

Q: 6. Is there a Sony version of this microphone? I don't see any listing for Sony. I understand that the Sony wireless mic's have a different pin configuration for power.

A: What you could do is get the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Normal Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone - Black (B&H # DP6060OCUB00) with a Microdot connector, not packaged with any adapter, then purchase the compatible Sony adapter separately. For the Sony adapter, you can use the DPA Microphones DAD6019 Microdot to 1/8" Mini Connector for Sony Transmitters (B&H # DPDAD6019) or the Deity Microphones DA35S Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter for Sony Transmitters (B&H # DEKSMDTDA35S). The DPA adapter is made in Denmark and the Deity adapter is made in China. Both adapters will work to enable compatibility with a Sony transmitter. When purchased separately, the 6060 CORE with the Microdot connector and DPA's Microdot adapter for Sony come out to the same price as the 6060 CORE that comes packaged with the Sennheiser adapter.

Q: 7. New to all this and trying my best. I'd like to buy this microphone to use for filming for a YouTube show. What do I connect this to in order to capture audio while filming?

A: In addition to its high quality components, the DPA Microphones 6060 CORE Subminiature Normal Sensitivity Omni Lavalier Microphone adds value in its versatility in connector options. Depending on your workflow and current equipment setup, this mic could be paired with a connector for a wireless mic system or hardwired into a recorder's audio input. Please email us at audio@bhphotovideo.com if you would like to have a more in-depth discussion on the options and possibilities for using the DPA 6060.

I keep a Sennheiser MKH8060 in my kit, as well as a RODE NTG-3. The storage tubes that come with these mics are okay solutions, but kind of a pain to get into. This mic storage clamshell is rigid, holds the mics in place, and makes storage in the Pelican case much more practical.

I’ll definitely be purchasing another to store some of the other, smaller mics in my kit. This pouch is long enough to keep two smaller mics (hypercardioids, cardioids) in each slot.
