Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Dear friend, how can I adjust the aperture with this thing?

A: Canon FD lenses are manual lenses , you control (adjust) the aperture on the lens

Q: 2. Does the aperture control of the lens work with this adapter?

A: The camera body can NOT control the lens aperture. You can manually control the aperture by rotating the ring on the lens. May have to run the camera body in aperture-priority mode or in manual mode.Have had good results with this adapter, my various Canon FD and FL lenses, and my Sony a7r camera body.

Q: 3. There are three reviews, which all shower praises on the build quality of the adapter. That goes without saying – Novoflex makes excellent products and charges a premium price, and that point is beyond debate. But the reviews completely missed what is really relevant: how do the Leica M mount lenses optically perform on a Fuji GFX camera? What kind of resolution do you get from the image files? Can you get sharp images to the edges and corners? Are there any acute ray angle issues that you see with M lenses on other 35mm full-frame mirrorless cameras like the Sony A7 / A7R or the Panasonic S1 / S1R? Can you specify the focal length of the lens mounted so the Fuji camera can apply image stabilization? I would appreciate any insights on these. TIA.

A: Reviews are the opinions of customers and we print them when we have them. Those are the only opinions that have been submitted for this product to date.

Q: 4. Will this adapter allow use of Canonflex R mount lenses on Alpha-7? Do any modifications need to be made to mount R lenses?

A: It is only for FD mount lenses, not the Canonflex R lenses. Unfortunately we do not sell any adapters for the Canonflex lenses.

Q: 5. Will this adapter work with Canon FL lenses?

A: OK, a little research on the internet yielded this Wikipedia link about the FL mount:{search for Canon FL mount and look at the Wikipedia link - B&H wont allow the posting of links directly}According to that FL lenses can be used on FD mounts, although it is not clear what is different about them.If that is true then the adapter may work.

Q: 6. Will this adaptor allow me to use my Canon FD lenses on a LUMIX S1H?

A: Yes, this adapter will allow for the use of Canon FD lenses on the Panasonic S1H.

Q: 7. Does the adapter works with bayonet or rotating or both Canon FD mounts?

A: The adapter is for the Canon Bayonet FD mount.

Q: 8. I am having trouble getting the shutter to fire with Nikon G lenses. They do not have an aperture rings and everything looks good until I try to fire the shutter. Nothing happens. In the viewfinder there is a 0 for the aperture. and the shutter changes when I turn the blue ring. I have tried changing the shutter from mechanical to electronic and it makes not difference. Finally, I changed to a D lense (20mm) but still nothing happens. Shutter will not fire. What am I doing wrong?

A: Because the lens adapter does not communicate with the camera body, it doesn't recognize it as being attached and the camera will not fire unless the "Shoot w/o Lens" menu option is enabled.

Q: 9. Is this wholly constructed of aluminum or are the bearing surfaces of more durable materials?

A: The body of the Novoflex Hasselblad V Lens to Fujifilm G-Mount Camera Adapter (B&H# NOFUGHA) is made of aluminum with the bayonet area being an especially strong alloy.

Q: 10. When mounting a nikon E lense, is the lens stuck at full open or full closed?

A: E-type of lens cannot be used with this adapter nor can G-type of lens be stopped down with the following adapter.

Obviously expensive relative to others, but unlike those adapters it's all one solid piece (i.e. no loose screws) and holds a 400MM FD lens to my Canon mirrorless very well. Worth the price if you're in the RF mount for the long-term and want to play around FD lenses.

Seats the lens perfectly and attaches like Canon-made RF. Precision machining. Yes, it's comparatively expensive, but engineered and manufactured without compromise, made in Germany.

With its nice finish, when the lens is affixed the pair appears as if a single item. Only a photographer would notice that it's an adapted lens.

I do wish it came with caps, but instead comes in a dust-sealed plastic box with a U-channel where the lid mates, and with padding in the bottom.

I started with the Metabones, but the tolerances on the RF side were just a little too sloppy for me.
The Novoflex fits great, and feels like an actual canon RF lens being put on or removed.
Will buy a second for my other FD lens.

I wanted top quality product considering I use so many Canon FD lenses on my modern Canon full frame. My Novoflex adapter looks great and works flawlessly. This product is certainly expensive - but considering that it is made in Germany and is the only one I will ever need - I am able to be super happy about it every single time I change a lens. I do not regret buying it and would do it all over again.

I purchased this adapter so that I could used my collection of Canon New FD lenses on my Canon EOS R6 Mark II. The Novoflex adapter is simpler than just about all of the other adapters out there (with the exception of the Rayqual adapter) which is a plus in my book. It also locks in place as well as my RF 28mm F2.8 on my R6 Mark II.

To mount the adapter, you simply align the red dot on your lens with the white dot on the adapter, turn it so that the red dot on the lens aligns with the red dot above the O in Novoflex, and then turn the lens back the other way until the button clicks (if you're using a New FD lens. The motion looks forms a sideways U and you don't have to worry about a fiddly ring.
