That's not a problem, but you could get by with a smaller umbrella. I mostly use a silver westcott umbrella and Profoto flat face strobes don't quite fill the umbrella to the edges.

A: The dimensions listed for the 7' umbrella on the Westcott site is the correct one. Except for the Westcott Deep Umbrellas, the umbrellas size is determined by the arc.

A: This works the same way as any other umbrella. I would suggest the black backed umbrella for bounce work. I often use this as a large diffused source with an Alien Bee when shooting groups. It is also great in the summer to throw up on a stand and use it to soften direct sunlight.
