Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It says in the overview: Capture analog audio via 3.5mm unbalanced Line in jack. So if I have a PTZ Cam that has video only from it's SDI output that I can capture audio from an analog source simultaneously and this device will embed the audio with the captured video?

A: The answer is yes. you can capture video and audio from different source and it will combine during stream.

Q: 2. Will this input 4K video on a Mac Studio using Wirecast and then be able to SEND that same 4K video to my stream? I just want to make SURE because I have bought 2 similar devices that ended up not being able to do everything I needed.

A: Yes, The Magewell will allow you to input into Wirecast similar to a webcam.

Q: 3. Works for record 4K video from my a7s1 output hdmi??

A: The original A7S is able to output UHD 4K at up to 30fps through HDMI. While not specifically tested, the Magewell USB Capture HDMI 4k Plus should be able to see the signal. However this is something that you would need to test out for yourself to see if it works.

Q: 4. Can this capture 4k raw from Sony's FS5 into Wirecast and into a Atomos Inferno ?

A: More than likely this product will not be able to process the RAW 4K signal that comes out of the FS5 with RAW Upgrade. We are not aware of an option for a capture device that will process the RAW signal and bring it in to Wirecast. Your best bet will be to do this through the FS5's HDMI output, which is 4K as well. The HDMI Model of this product is B&H # MA32090 and would be a better choice.https://bhpho.to/2fJBh1v

Q: 5. Could I use this for 4k going into a mac using quicktime app on computer?

A: Yes you can.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the Apple M1 chip?

A: Yes, the Magewell USB Capture SDI 4K Plus will support M1 Mac silicon laptops. You will need the following adapter cable though. Apple USB-C 3.0 to USB-A Adapter BH #APMJ1M2AMA • MFR #MJ1M2AM/A

Q: 7. The USB cable included with this device is very short. What type A to type C cables are compatible with this device. Up until now the only cable I can find that will allow the card to be recognized by my 2019 MacBook Pro is the cable that was included with the card. Even though other cards seem to match the required specifications the device does not power on and is not recognized by the computer.

A: I am sorry to say that Magewell advises to please use the included Magewell USB 3.0 cable, which is a custom accessory. Using any other similar cable might cause capture problems and even damage the capture device.

Q: 8. Hi All What is the application of MIC input?

A: The audio input is a 3.5mm audio jack for a microphone.

Q: 9. coming out of a mixing board line level, what kind of pad do I need to plug into the magewell? It says mic level going in

A: the input on this product is Line Level therefore you can go straight from your mixing board into the capture device. Magewell makes this a bit more clear on their website http://www.magewell.com/products/usb-capture-sdi-4k-plus
