Known for its flexibility and superior construction, the 39" Rotalux Squarebox from Elinchrom is especially suited to head and shoulders portraiture, use as a hairlight, or for photographing groups and products. The softbox has removable interior and exterior white diffusers that can be used one at a time, together, or not at all for different contrast and softness options. An optional translucent deflector, or a set of them, bounces light to the back of the Squarebox to remove the hotspot and further soften the light. A separately purchased hooded diffuser limits spill light while the optional collapsible fabric grid narrows the beam angle while it also thwarts spill light. The light shaper can rotate 360-degrees on its separately purchased speed ring while its spring-loaded sockets allow you to mount the support poles in untensioned sockets, then snap them into place. The Squarebox has a silver interior for maximum output and comes with a bag for storage and transport.

A: The Elinchrom Rotalux Octabox (100 cm / 39") comes with one case.

Q: 2. What kind of material the grid is?

A: I have no idea what type of fabric is actually used in this product but it feels like a very lightweight canvas. The edges have velcro around them to hold the grid on the softbox. It does sag a little with the wight of the grid but it does it's job very well. I hope this helps.

Q: 3. Can you use a speed lite with this? Like the Flashpoint by Good.

Q: 4. What is the difference between this one and the older version that was recently discontinued ?

A: The only difference between the older (now discontinued) Elinchrom Rotalux Softbox Octa (53 ), B&H # ELSBRJO53, and the current Elinchrom Rotalux Octabox (135cm / 53 ), B&H # EL26647, is the original softbox included the Elinchrom speedring which was only compatible with Elinchrom strobes. The current softbox does not include a speedring. As such, you must purchase the speedring separately, but Elinchrom manufactures speedrings for multiple brands which may all use the above softbox. Otherwise, the softboxes are the same.

Q: 5. What speedring do I need to purchase to use this with a Profoto B1?

A: This is a softbox. It cannot be mounted as a umbrella.

Q: 9. Will average sized speedrings fit the rods of this box, or does it need a proprietary ring?

A: You will have to get a proprietary speedring that's made by Elinchrom for different type light mount

Q: 10. Bowens S mount?

A: This softbox does not come with a speedring. You will need to buy the type that matches your lights needs.

The Elinchrom Rotalux Deep Octabox has been one of my most favorite light modifiers since 2009. Well worth the money...I've used these on alienbees, elinchrom, and profoto lights. 5

Leave it to Elinchrom to produce wonderful light modifiers. This Deep Octa is no exception. It offers wonderful wrap around qualities housed in a sturdy build. It is a large modifier and it offers fabulous results. My suggestion is, if you are looking to beautiful images, buy this Softbox. 5

Ive used their large octa for years and I was sold on their other modifiers. Elinchrom softboxes are lightweight and built well. Note: when you first assemble this one its very difficult. I suggest assembling then letting it sit for a while. Do this several times. After a few days it will loosen up and be easier. 5
