With its unique long rectangular form factor, it's clear why the 20 x 51" Rotalux Stripbox from Elinchrom is a favorite of people, product, and fashion photographers. The shape is ideal for edge or side lighting a subject or product; using as a hairlight; or rendering long, elegant highlights on glassware and reflective objects. The softbox has an exterior white diffuser and an interior diffuser that can each be used alone for varying degrees of contrast, or removed for a punchy high contrast look. The Stripbox has a silver interior for maximum output and comes with a bag for storage and transport.

The Rotalux Stripbox is compatible with several accessories that are sold separely. Optional translucent deflectors can be used to bounce light to the back of the Stripbox, to remove the hotspot and further soften the light. An optional "strip diffuser", which is actually a mask, narrows the beam spread. A speed ring is required to attach the Rotalux Stripbox to your light. The spring-loaded sockets on your speed ring allow you to mount the support poles in untensioned sockets, then snap them into place, permitting it to rotate 360 degrees.

Q: 8. Hello! I was wondering if anyone tried to use this softbox with a profoto b1 head pointed in the indirect way? Thanks! =)

A: I've been trying to make this work with the Profoto B1 and I would not recommend it. Not to say it's not possible, but the B1 is just to heavy on the back end. Plus, you have to remove the silver panel in the Profoto adapter for the B1 to slide in. But ... it won't fit all the way. The rods are configured to close to the dome. This prevents the B1 from sliding further in than half way. This makes the chance for it falling off even greater since the B1 is dragging down the adapter which has never been secure enough in my opinion even with a 7b that doesn't have that extra weight in the back end. If my other lights went down and I HAD to to use the B1 with this indirect Octa, or my 7' indirect Octa I would bungee the hell out of the B1 to the C-stand.

The Rotalux strip provides a great quality of light. Comes with inner and outer diffusion layers, but really best delivers what I need when fitted with either the recessed front diffuser or the new Rotalux egg crate fabric grids. I have both, and both serve me well. 5

A versatile source of light. I use this primarily as a part of a butterfly lighting setup. Provides a nice controllable light, especially when paired with a grid. Side lighting, illuminating a background uniformly, hair light-all tasks for this strip box. The build quality is typical of other rotalux softboxes. One strip light arrived with one of the rods slightly larger than the others and that was problematic, but I eventually got the soft box assembled. Speed ring is purchased separately. 5

This is my First Rotalux Series Softbox that I purchased from Elinchrom. Although I use Broncolor/Comet for as my workhorse strobe (currently based in Tokyo). I personally wanted a strobe unit for my personal projects. I ended up getting This along with the RX One series. As a product photographer the most important aspect is trying to limit the spread of light and this product does really well in terms of size and how the light is distributed from edge to edge. It is almost flawless, the inner material is nice, the construction is well made (maybe flimsy) but it is lightweight compared to competitors like broncolor and useful on locations. The Rotalux shaft was cumbersome to install at first but when locked into place. I was shocked to see how fast I can lock this thing up add inner diffusion material/out diffusion and good to go. I am saving up to get a deep/octa next hopefully. Thankyou B/H for a great product! 5
