Capable of holding gear as heavy as 2 lb, this Mini Ball Head Mount from Bescor is well suited for articulating small accessories, such as portable lights and microphones. It offers a 1/4"-20 screw at the top for attaching to your gear featuring a notch on its base for 90° tilting in one direction, as well as a durable metal construction. At its bottom is a shoe mount with a 1/4"-20 female thread in the middle, which allows it to be installed directly to the hot shoe of your camera or used with compatible light stands and tripods.

A: The Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head has a maximum load capacity of 6.6 lbs. The Rode VideoMic Pro Compact Directional On-Camera Microphone only weighs 3 oz (0.19 lbs), so the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head would easily handle the weight of the microphone. As the de VideoMic Pro Compact Directional On-Camera Microphone has a 3/8 -16 thread on the bottom for use on boom poles and audio equipment, you would also need to purchase the Oben 3/8 -16 to 1/4 -20 Reducer Bushing, B&H # OB1039, which would allow you to connect the microphone to the ball head.

A: The main difference between the Oben BD-1 Mini Ball Head and the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head is the load capacity; the Oben BD-0 Mini Ball Head is stronger, supporting up to 6.6 lbs, while the Oben BD-1 only supported 4 lbs. The BD-0 is also lighter in weight. Otherwise, the two would be similar in size and performance.

This shoe mount works perfectly for me. The build quality is excellent. Feels very well-made and comfortable to work with. It says it is rated to hold up to 4.5 lbs and I believe it. This is well-built and the lock mechanism works well at tightening things down and holding things in place. I mounted my Elvid FieldVision 10.1 LCD On-Camera Monitor to my camera with this mini shoe mount and it held the monitor in place with ease. I had no concerns for it falling or drooping. The locking mechanism held it perfectly in place. I like that it has a rubberized base on the top mount. This helps you tighten it down securely and prevents any scratches. I used the cold shoe on my camera with this mount, but it also comes with a 1/4-20 grub screw so you can attach it to a camera cage which is a nice addition. Having a notch is also a nice touch for when you want to tilt down the monitor. This gives added security and stability and makes switching between from portrait to landscape orientation very easy. I mounted the Elvid Mini Shoe Mount Ball Head on my 10 Elvid FieldVision 10.1 LCD Monitor. It's built to hold up to 4.5 lbs and this monitor approaches the limit very closely. How its is, it will lock very securely and nothing wobbles, AS LONG AS you know how to properly install and making sure it's tightened. The Elvid Field Vision weighs exactly 19.4 oz / 550 g and I think I can load slightly heavier things on this ball head. Haven't tried yet. Now... This will seem like a no brainer on how to use a product like this, BUT, I have the best way to mount it so you won't risk wobble when tightening it then adding your monitor as an example...Please see the attached images I posted (blue background) as they are instructional images with text in it. Mount the bottom first, the add the rest of the unit. Again, see pictures. Comes also with a double sided male thread if you need to mount this ball mount head on a cheese plate of similar. I use this ball head with my action cameras when I'm out exploring. It holds onto my vehicle pretty well (as long as I'm not whipping through trees) and allows me to adjust on the fly. I also use it at home when I need to mount my camera somewhere for top-down video. It holds both my rigs without issue. 5

I got one of these for myself and one for my brother. The magnets on the base are super strong and will hold to any ferrous material like a car hood. The ball head won't hold a full frame DSLR, but it could handle a good point and shoot camera like my Canon G7x II not to mention any phone with a tripod grip adapter. The bottom of the base is also rubberized so that it won't scratch up the paint if you attach it to you car. 5
