Taking photos of stars without some form if Astro tracer limits your tume exposure to about 10 seconds. More than that results in star trails. The Pentax astrotracer allows you to take exposures of up to 5 minutes without seeing star trails. Being able to take longer exposures also opens up the ability to take shots with much loser ISO and/or smaller apertures. The attached photo was a minute and a half exposure. Takes under a minute to do the precision calibration and it is ready to go. Super easy, great results. Also inserts GPS data into photo exif data. 5
