The BS-MP20 8-Port 10GbE Network Switch from Buffalo is built upon 802.3bz standard, which positions small businesses to maximize current network infrastructure while preparing them for later transition to 10GbE. The 802.3bz standard supports 2.5, 5, and 10GBase-T networks through the same switch using a basic CAT5e cable. To transition to 10GbE networking, this switch is suitable with the TeraStation 5010 line of NAS devices which features up to two native 10GbE ports. Each port on the switch automatically detects and configures the correct connection while full duplex operation provides maximum performance.

The BS-MP20 features a compact design that can sit on a desktop, mounted on a wall, or in a rack. Additionally, the chassis design supports noise reduction. To simplify installation, it includes rubber feet for desktop use and rails for rack-mounting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use one of the 2.5GbE ports as uplink port to my router? I want to keep the 2x10GbE ports for my Mac and nas. Thanks in advance!

A: Technically, yes, you could use one of the QNAP QSW-2104-2T 6-Port 10GbE/2.5GbE Unmanaged Switch's 2.5GbE ports for uplink, but then the switch will only be able to provide a 2.5GbE connection to your network for all other devices. In other words, your 10GbE ports can only provide a 10GbE connection to the router if the uplink port is also 10GbE.

Q: 2. What port number does the incoming from server go into, I'm assuming number 1? TIA

A: The manufacturer has not specified any of the TPE-TG84's Ethernet ports as a designated upstream port.

Q: 3. Can this be mounted on a wall ?

Q: 4. what's the differnce from https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1643881-REG/qnap_qsw_2104_2t_us_plug_play_switch.html ?

A: There is no difference in specs between the QNAP QSW-2104-2T 6-Port 10GbE/2.5GbE Unmanaged Switch and the QNAP QSW-2104-2T 6-Port 10GbE and 2.5GbE Unmanaged Switch.

Q: 5. Does this come with a power supply?

Q: 7. Are the SFP ports vendor locked? What compatibilities should I be looking for on a 10Gb SFP+ to RJ45 transceiver?

A: The SFP ports on the QNAP QSW-2104-2S 6-Port 10GbE/2.5GbE Unmanaged Switch are not vendor locked. As long as the SFP+ to RJ45 adapter module supports 10GbE, it will supply full 10GbE speeds to the RJ45.

Q: 8. Can it be powered from the second port of UAP-AC-PRO?

A: No, the second port on the UAP-AC-PRO would not pass the power through to the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX.
