The Astra 3X Bi-Color LED Light Panel from LitePanels offers significantly brightness due to the use of tightly-binned LEDs and fine-tuned TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optics, resulting in a longer throw over a wider field. It offers flicker-free 0-100% dimming with no visible color shift, and has a high CRI of 95 for accurate color rendering

The Astra's functions may be adjusted locally using the intuitive built-in controls, or operated remotely with one of the optional DMX512 Modules, available in XLR 5-Pin, RJ-45, or Wireless formats. Each module provides Master/Replica configuration for the control of single lights, or multiple light fixtures in a network or daisy chain. In addition, the Astra Bluetooth module provides the same kind of control of single or multiple lights from a portable device, using the free LitePanels SmartLite app download. The accessory modules slide into place on the rear of the Astra panel simply and quickly, with no wiring or complex installation required.

The Astra 3X Bi-Color comes with both US and EU power cables, plus a universal (100-240 VAC) adapter. It also operates on 13-24 VDC batteries by using V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plates, available separately. The unique curved yoke design features a TVMP connector for hanging or stand mounting the panel almost anywhere, and two additional 1/4"-20 female taps offer alternate mounting points.

Q: 1. Does this come with a gold mount plate?

A: no

Q: 2. How does the weight distribution feel? It looks front heavy. Will it be stable on a smaller stand?

A: The weight on this panel is evenly distributed so that it would not be top heavy. Your best bet is to use a stand which is rated for 7 lbs or heavier. One such stand would be the Matthews Medium Duty Kit Stand with Brake - Black, 7.7' B&H # MALSMBBK. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 3. I would be mainly using these battery powered, so I am leaning towards the EPs because the other Astras (4x brighter) will drain batteries faster a lot faster, correct? Also, to get the 4x up to full power using batteries, let's say Anton Bauers, I'd have to get the digital 150s as opposed to the Digital 90s. I think the EPs drain 55W and the 4x brighter ones drain 110W. That seems like I would be going through a ton more batteries going with the 4x brighter Astras as opposed to the EPs, and batteries wouldn't last nearly as long. Can someone check my logic?

A: I would go with the brighter light. You will need the larger battery but the draw is very small and they last an amazingly long time. you will be very happy you went with the brighter light if you go that route. If you go with a small battery you can always turn the fan off and the Astra will run at 50% brightness if you want to conserve battery and can make due with a dimmer light. But if you have a big batt or plug in you will always have the extra punch if you need it.

Q: 4. Can an IDX DUO-C98 96Wh High-Load Battery V mount battery be used in this light an/or model?

A: The IDX-DUO-C98 is capable of running a Litepanels Astra 6x.

Q: 6. Which version of the Astra Bi-Color line is this Astra Soft based on, before diffusion, LED power wise? Or is it unique? The E version (Same Power of Original 1x1), the EP version (2x Power of Original 1x1), or the newest unlabeled version that is 4x Power of Original 1x1 version? And why are the specs the lowest, the price the highest, despite the model being the newest? Is that all diffusion? Which is of course needed no matter what...

A: The Astra Soft Bi-Color is using and powering the same LEDs as the unlabeled 4x power Astra 1x1 Bi-Color. Because there is a medium diffusion built in to the front of these LEDs, the light has a wider beam angle (90) in contrast to the the 4x Astra that is throwing the illumination further with a tighter beam angle (45)

Q: 10. is there enough room in the case to fit batteries and a charger?

A: Definitely should be. There is a larger space next to the lights, I use it to store stingers, sandbags, and power strips so I don't need a separate grip case. I have 3 sandbags, 3-40ft stingers, 1-15ft stinger, 2 power strips, and the AC power cords for all 3 lights in the space. I would think you'd have no problem storing the batteries and a charger.
