The IPGard 4-Port Dual-Link DVI-I KVM Switch allows users to control keyboard, video and mouse operation on up to four computers with dual-head DVI displays (or HDMI/VGA displays with an optional adapter). It supports native video resolution up to 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz and can also support up to 4K (3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz) resolutions via an HDMI-to-DVI adapter (available separately). Designed for use in secure defense and intelligence applications, this switch is NIAP PP 3.0 certified and includes security features that meet Information Assurance safe control standards.

This switch emulates the presence of a keyboard and a mouse for every attached computer through a USB cable, preventing direct connection between the peripherals and the connected computer. It also prevents unwanted and unsecure data from getting transmitted through the DDC lines by means of secure EDID learning and emulation.

The unit is equipped with internal anti-tamper switches, which sense attempts to open the device enclosure. Once the system identifies such an attempt, the unit shuts off connections with all the attached PCs and peripherals, disabling any functionality. The controller of the unit comes with a protection feature that prevents reprogramming or reading the firmware. The enclosure is also protected with a tamper-evident seal to provide a visual evidence if the unit has been opened.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I use separate usb c power supply instead of mac usb c port?

A: The SMK-Link USB-C Dual 4K Multi-Stream 12-in-1 Mini-Docking Station does not support external power.

Q: 2. Is there a mode where i view 2 computers , one per screen and abble to toggle the keyboard/mouse between those two?

A: Yes. All you need is a 2 port KVM switch. Here is one option: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1445913-REG/iogear_gcs1942_2_port_4k_dual_view.html

Q: 3. does this have a wall mount bracket included ?

A: The TP-Link LS1008G does not include any type of mounting bracket.

Q: 4. What other Hz is supported by the device at lower resolutions? For example, 4096x2160 @60Hz is what is says but what about at 2560x1440 and lower?

A: The manufacturer only specifies 4096 x 2160 @60 Hz (4K DCI).

Q: 5. How quickly does this device switch from one input to another?

A: The IOGEAR True 4K 3-Port HDMI Switch (BH #IOGHSW8431) could take anywhere from a few milliseconds to a few seconds to switch inputs, depending on the type of input and output, as well as the speeds of the cabling.

Q: 6. Can this be used without supplying power to the host PC? That is, only for transferring data.

A: The Kensington SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station BH #KESD5700T can be used for transferring data.

Q: 7. Will this work with a non-Thunderbolt equipped USB Type C iPad?

A: The SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station will not work properly over a USBC connection. It requires Thunderbolt 4.

Q: 8. Thunderbolt 4 to HDMI. My ASUS laptop has 2 Thunderbolt 4 sockets. If taking one of these to the hub, then from the hub to two displays using HDMI. Do the Thunderbolt to HDMI cables need to be active or have any specific features?

A: The SD5700T 4-port Thunderbolt 4 only supplies power through USB since it does not have HDMI ports, an adapter would be needed. It would depend on the monitor that is being used and the adapter if power will be supplied to said monitor.

Q: 9. Can this function as a plain 10g USB 3 hub when connected to a PC without a Thunderbolt-equipped USB Type C port?

A: The SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station requires a fully qualified Thunderbolt 4 port to work properly, otherwise results can be unexpected and more importantly unsupported, as that would not be the intended use of this dock.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the new Apple 13.6" M2 Macbook Air? I understand some docking stations block the MagSafe charging port. If not, can you suggest an alternative?

A: It is possible that there may be enough clearance, however without the exact dimensions of the host connectors we cannot say for sure. To avoid risking blocking the MagSafe port, I would recommend a single-connection hub/dock such as BH #EZX40030.
