A super wide-angle prime, the XP 14mm f/2.4 from Samyang is an EF-mount prime that pairs an intuitive manual focus design with a sophisticated optical design. Incorporating 18 elements in 14 groups, this lens utilizes a series of aspherical, low dispersion, and high refractive index elements to reduce color fringing, aberrations, and distortions for sharp, clear, and color accurate imagery. An Ultra Multi-Coating is also featured, as well as a built-in lens hood, to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in bright, direct lighting conditions. Complementing the imaging assets, a manual focus design is employed that permits working with subjects as close as 11" away, and the aluminum-alloy housing is both lightweight and durable to support working in a variety of conditions.

Super wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, this lens can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 22.4mm equivalent focal length.

The complex 18 elements, 14 groups optical design includes two aspherical elements, one hybrid aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and three high refractive index elements, which all combine to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations and color fringing, as well as improve sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for increased contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.

Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 11" away.

Built-in petal-shaped lens hood blocks stray light from reaching the front element and also offers some physical protection against light impacts.

Aluminum-alloy housing is both durable and lightweight.

I purchased this lens to use primarily for astrophotography. It is fast and it is sharp. A great lens that coupled with an adapter for Sony A7R series, makes for excellent photo possibilities. It is manual focus and it does need an adapter for Sony, but other than those quibbles, it is a great lens.

I have used the Sigma 14mm and now this Samyang 14mm; it is extraordinary in quality. I know there have been some QC issues with Samyang (Rokinion), and if you have some blurring on edges, send it back for replacement...this one doesn't have issues and is extremely sharp when I tested it...it is prone to more vignetting than the Sigma 14, but the edges are sharper, as is the whole image...great buy for the price.

Manual focus that connects with Canon cameras and while holding 1/2 trigger and focusing it will beep letting you know it has focused. You can change the aperture only using your camera.
Very sharp and no aberration in full frame, specially at f/1.2. Highly recommend it.

Having owned the GREAT Sigma 85mm art lens and the FANTASTIC Tamron 85mm 1.8, I can say without reservation, THIS LENS IS AMAZING!!! This lens is as sharp at 1.2, as the Tamron at 1.8!! That is INSANE considering the Tamron is fantastically sharp at 1.8... Wow... The Sigma is sharper yes, but it doesnt go down to 1.2! Ill sacrifice the MARGINAL sharpness for the better aperture, boken rendering (OMG!!), and overall different artistic look this lens provides... Oh yeah, its manual focus.... But Im adapting to Sony so........Lol

I recently had an assignment to do some architectural photography which required me to sandwich myself between two buildings so as to photograph the north elevation of one of the buildings. The 10mm lens was the only lens in my kit that could capture the building while the camera was absolutely level in all planes.

The cropping was so tight that I doubt even a 12mm super wide would have made the photo possible.

Moreover the lens rendered the shot razor sharp with no noticeable distortion at 100%.

I would highly recommend this lens for anyone who needs a good architectural or interior lens.

This lens gave me substantial background blur and is a bokeh monster. If you enjoy manually focusing and composing your shot you'll love this lens. Great build quality as well!
