Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many 120mm rolls can be processed?

A: You can process approximately 8-10 rolls of 120 film. Of course you can use the chemistry for more than 1 batch but your development times will increase to compensate for partially exhausted chemistry. You can refer to the dev. instructions packaged with the chemistry for more details.

Q: 2. can it be used for 120 film?

A: This can be used with any film that uses C-41 processing.

Q: 3. Can I develop 40 year old color negatives with this kit?

A: If the film is color negative c-41 film, yes you can use CineStill Film Cs41 Powder Developing Kit for C-41 Color Film to process it. Note after 40 years the latent image will be some what corrupted.

Q: 4. Hi, i have read the instruction manuals, and it says on step 5 to pour stabiliser. However, this package does not include the stabiliser powder. How does it effect the result if we are not including the stabiliser?

A: If you are shooting modern color negative film, a "stabilizer bath" is not necessary. Up until the mid 90's, the final rinse bath in the C-41 process was called a "stabilizer bath," since it contained Formaldehyde or Formalin. Modern color film emulsions include chemical stabilizers within the film emulsion itself.

Q: 5. Hi there. If my Cinestill pack got hot in the mail are the chemicals still usable? Thanks!

A: They should be fine, powder is much more resilient than liquid.

Q: 6. has anyone mixed small amounts at a time like 500ml or 1000ml? to keep the concentrates longer and only make working solutions for what you need when you need.

A: You should have no issue making smaller amounts. This is sized for large amounts of film developing but can do small as well.

Q: 7. How long does the chemical last once mixed?

A: According to the manufacturer, a mixed solution that is tightly capped and stored in an appropriate container can last for 8-12 weeks.

Q: 8. can I use this kit to do a Cross Processing on slide films?

A: You could take an E6 film and cross process it with this C41 kit. The issue is that cross processing is all about trial and error and be open to see what happens. We cannot guarantee what results you will have, but it is a fun process to use. If you are open to wild and unpredictable results and are interested in DIY it would be something fun to try.

Q: 9. What's the best way to store already mixed solutions to prolong its use?

A: In dark chemistry bottles, such as the ones listed below; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=storage%20bottles&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma

Q: 10. Whats the unopened package expiry?

A: Unfortunately when buying online it is not possible to know the expiration date before receiving the product.

As the product name indicates, this is pretty simple. I was able to mix and use this chemistry with almost zero previous experience. I’ve processed three rolls so far and had great results.

I have bought this 3 or 4 times before and it works great. Instructions are clear too. You can def. get more rolls out than what it says.

Been the developer I always use, it’s available, cheap, reliable, and I haven’t had an issue with it yet! Been using it for years, I recommend it.

Great product - easy & simple. The instructions are good. I already developed 5 rolls of kodak porta, the colors are very good and accurate. I recommend this product

This was my first time developing film at home, so I had basically no experience doing so except for watching a few videos on how to do it, and I was looking for something that would be easy to use and relatively forgiving.

The instructions were very easy to follow and CineStill provided a very useful chart for developing your film at different temperatures. I already had an immersion circulator, thus I was able to heat my developer and blix solutions to the recommended temperature, so I would recommend getting one if you don't already have one!

My photos ended up coming out great and it didn't take long to mix the chemicals together (even while being extra cautious; Again, first time).

If there's one thing that was a little inconvenient, it's that the tear line on the foil packages that contain the chemical powders doesn't actually open the foil pack when you tear it (or at least in my case it didn't), so I needed to grab a pair of scissors. Trying to pull the pack apart might spew some chemical powder into the air which you definitely would want to minimize. Not really a make-or-break though.
