Q: 1. How many papers can you develop with one tray of the solution?

A: The manufacture does not list how many prints you can get from Ilford Multigrade Developer (500ml). It depends on what dilution you use, size of trays and print size.

Q: 2. Which fixer to use for this developer? Suggest the most affordable and powder only please?

A: CineStill makes the CineStill Film F96 B&W+Bleach-Bypass Rapid Fixer (To Make 1L). This is a good option to use with this Developer. Here is a link to this on our site. https://bhpho.to/3tBG6xI

Q: 4. How long will the developer last once opened?

A: Full unopened bottles of Ilford MULTIGRADE developer concentrates stored in cool conditions, 5–20ºC, (41–68ºF), will keep for 2 years. If stored in a tightly capped bottle, a working strength solution may last up to 24 hours.

Q: 5. Will this work with graded paper (not multi grade or poly contrast papers)?

A: Yes this fixer can work with graded papers.

Q: 6. Does it have a shelf life or go off? I've had a bottle for a couple of years and haven't needed to use it till now and wasn't sure if I still could

A: If the bottle was not opened, it should still be good.

My first experience with paper developer was a disastrous gallon of Dektol, which stained every print. Ilford, mixed 1 9 has yielded me more prints than I would ever need in a typical session. The 1 14 dilution would likely benefit smaller sessions like my own, at the cost of longer dev times.

Works well, doesn't take up too much space, and reasonably priced

I can't expel the virtues of this over other developers except to say it's reliable and affordable and that works for me. I use 50mL per printing session so this gets me 10 days worth of printing. Pretty affordable if you ask me.

Working in very large format (42 and up) I need to make gallons of developer at a time, and this is an excellent choice that is also incredibly affordable.

Great fine grain developer. I use it with HP5 and Fomapan 100 and achieve awesome results. Development time is a bit longer than the published times. I find it works best at 1:9 for 12 minutes at 70°.

In light of recent developer issues from Kodak, I've returned to Ilfosol for consistent quality and results.
