The 4 x 5.65" Graduated ND Blender Filter from Formatt Hitech is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4 x 5.65" rectangular filters up to 4mm-thick. This filter is densest at one edge where it corresponds to a reduction of light from entering a lens by 2-stops and tapers to clear at the other edge. Its gradation can be used to selectively darken an image from edge to edge. While this graduated blender filter's 0.6 density can be applied to bright skies, the remaining regions of the image can be exposed with a progressively decreasing effect.

This filter is constructed from Schott glass for clarity and color fidelity. A padded pouch is included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this have a front thread to take the 82mm circ. polarizer included in some of the formatt hitech kits?

A: No

Q: 2. Does it have front filter threads?

A: The Moment 77mm Variable Neutral Density 1.8 to 2.7 Filter (6 to 9-Stop) does not have front threads. The inner diameter is 85mm; the outer front diameter is 96mm.

Q: 3. Is there a ND filter I can used with a 10-24mm lens that does not band or vignette? for a Tamron SP 10-24 77mm

A: This ND filter is optimized for use with wide angle lenses, so vignetting will be kept to a minimum, if there is any at all.

Q: 4. What size lens cap would I need to go in front of this?

A: The Formatt Hitech 77mm Multistop Neutral Density Filter does not have front filter threads and will not accept a standard lens cap.

Q: 5. Is it compatible with tokina 11-16mm lens for nikon?

A: 77mm filter on a 77mm filter thread = yes.

Q: 6. Does this filter have a hard stop at each end of the range? My 62mm Bower variable ND does, just wondering if this version does as well. Thanks.

A: Yes, this filter has hard stops.

Q: 7. Hello. I am looking to reduce my f-stop during panning shots. I do Motorsport photography and typically pan anywhere from 1/30th to 1/320. In that range, I’ve been up to f-18. I use the 300 f2.8 with both TC’s with exceptional results. My concern/question is, will this negatively affect or impact the AF system? Even though I already get a nice motion blur with panning techniques, I’d like to reduce the f-stop further to add some additional blurring in the out of focus areas. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: This should not effect the focusing system much. If you were using anything 6-stop or more, the you may see varying results, but because it is only a 3-stop, you would be more than fine.

Q: 8. How much does the filter weigh?

A: I don't have the means to weigh the filter directly. I does not weigh more than any other of the B&W filters in this particular mount. You can go to the manufacturer website for this exact product and ask the weight question. B&W Photo does not permit inserting outside links, so do a Google Search on Schneider Optics, once on the website, copy and paste the manufacturer's part number that B&H Photo includes, that will give you the specifics on this product. Then you will have links to ask the weight question of an associate. I hope this helps.

Q: 9. Am I right to assume that a 58mm lens cap would fit over this filter?

A: Yes, technically a 58mm lens cap should fit. But filters like these can be wider. They essentially are made up of two polarizing filters sandwiched together. So they can be a bit wider because of that.

Q: 10. Are their both inside and outside threads on this filter so that it can be included anywhere in a stack?

A: I note it is threaded on both sides.
