This 4-stop, 100 x 150mm NiSi Nano Medium-Edge Graduated IRND Filter is a rectangular filter that helps to darken specific areas of an image such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a medium-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a medium-edged line of transition can filter the sky while minimizing its effect on the land. It is particularly useful for images that include elements like rooftops and mountains that protrude into the sky. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 4-stop reduction in light from entering the lens.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coating associated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

This NiSi 100 x 150mm Nano Medium-Edge Graduated IRND 1.2 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and measures 2mm thick.

100 x 150mm graduated neutral density filter darkens bright areas of an image, such as skies, while leaving the remainder of the frame unaffected.

16x filter factor provides up to a 4-stop reduction of light in selective areas.

Medium-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas.

Useful for images that include elements like rooftops and mountains that protrude into the sky.

Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.

Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times.

Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water or oil for more efficient cleaning.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I combine this with a Nisi circular polarizer? which should be in front (which determines size i need)?

A: Yes, you can combine with NiSi circular polarizer. The size of the filter will be the same as the ND filter. The circular polarizer should be in front, after the ND filter, circular polarizer is being rotated more often then ND so should have easier access without disturbing exposure. When stacking multiple filters with rotating elements consider having Rubberized Filter Wrench https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1407950-REG/sensei_48_55mm_rubberized_filter_wrench.html of appropriate size due to possible difficulty of separating the filters when taking of the lens.

Q: 2. will this fit in a drop in filter tray for canon L glass, like the 200-400 f4? Provided you take off the thumb stud.

A: Unfortunately, the NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (52mm) will not fit in that lens. To fit in a drop-in filter holder, the filter needs to be very thin, the front has to be the same diameter as the back, and the filter cannot have the knurling on the outside of the filter.

Q: 3. Can other filters screw on to the Nano filter to stack filters?

A: Unfortunately this filter is too thin to stack any more filters on top of it.

Q: 4. Will the 105mm fit the Canon CN-E 15.5 - 47mm?

A: The NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (105mm) will fit the Canon CN-E 15.5-47mm T2.8 L S Wide-Angle Cinema Zoom Lens with EF Mount.

Q: 5. Can it be used with NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens which has a drop in filter holder in the back? If not, what are the options?

A: The NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (46mm) is incompatible with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lens. Instead, get the Kase Tele Drop-In Filter Kit for NIKKOR 800mm f/6.3 VR S and 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S Lenses (1.5 - 5 Stop Vari ND Filter, Magnetic Holder), BH #KAFKNZVND15.

Q: 6. Will it fit the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8? If not, what will fit this lens?

A: The NiSi 150mm Q Filter Holder for Rokinon/Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens, BH # NIPFH150SA14 would be the correct model. https://bhpho.to/3vi5bOs

Q: 7. when the 6-9 ND comes out, can it be COMBINED with the 1-5 (=14)? with threads or friction: will i need 86mm to put with 82 1-5?

A: No, you can not combine the NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (82mm) with another variable nd filter.

Q: 8. I am going to use this filter on my 60-600mm lens. Doesn't X-effect occur at any focal length?

A: The NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (105mm) does not create an X pattern at all. An "X" pattern tends to happen on lower end variable ND filters that cover a broader stop range such as 2 to 8 stops.

Q: 9. Will this hold square 150mm filters?

A: Yes it can.

Q: 10. Hi, i wold like yo know if this model it's compatible with the Sony PZ28-135 mm?

A: Yes, the NiSi True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1 to 5-Stop Variable ND Filter (95mm) is compatible with the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens.
