Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this unit compatible with the APC Smart Card "AP9641" - 2020 version of network card?

A: No it is not compatible.

Q: 2. What exactly does this unit provide? Power up computers? Phone?

A: Thank you for your interest in our products. This unit would provide a battery backup during a power outage. For example if you had a small power outage your equipment would stay on till the battery depletes. Usually computers are connected to it but you could connect a phone to it. You would just want to stay under 900 watts so the UPS doesn't become overloaded.

Q: 3. Is this unit manageable via network connectivity (RJ45)? Specification page says serial via RJ45 but nothing about remote management via network. Thanks.

A: It is possible that the use of the word "serial" throws off users but APC refers to the port as the APC SmartConnect port which is indeed the network port on the rear of the unit.

Q: 4. can i control ports individually ?like scheduling shutdown for a device while keep the other running at different port?

A: The APC Smart-UPS C 1440VA with LCD does not support individually controlling the outlets.

Q: 5. Follow Up question on APC Smart Card "AP9641" & SMT3000C (and also SMT2200C): Do these units *already* have less capable cards that would need to be removed to make room to make room for AP9641 ? If so: What is the best model in this form factor and VA Capacity to buy, with the goal of deploying UPS with AP9641 card?

A: Thank you for your interest in our products. You would not need to remove any card to install the AP9641. The only thing you would need to remove is the blanking panel that covers the slot where the card is installed.

Q: 6. does this unit require additional card to send email, be accessible over internet: APC Dry Contact I/O SmartSlot Card ?

A: The APC Smart-UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector with SmartConnect, B&H # APSMT2200C, has built-in internet connectivity for management. This unit is compatible with the APC Dry Contact I/O SmartSlot Card if you want to have more advanced option for monitoring and controlling the UPS.

Q: 7. Does this come with built in ethernet or do i need to purchase an ethernet card?

A: This BH #APS3000RM2UC does have a Ethernet(RJ45) port built in.

Q: 8. Are these TAA compliant?

A: Yes, APC Smart-UPS Battery Backup is TAA Compliant.

Q: 9. I want to hook up to survillence system to keep powered up when losing utility power. I assume this will do the trick?

A: Absolutely will be fine. Most surveillance systems draw very little power, and the near perfect sine-wave output is great for video equipment that would otherwise be susceptible to electronic noise (ie. spurious lines in the video, etc). However, this unit can only keep your surveillance system running for a limited amount of time, and you can determine the amount of time by visiting the APC website and using their UPS sizing tool to help determine about how much time your system will stay powered. And a sidenote... if you are using a PC-based system to record the surveillance data, then the amount of time will be substantially reduced due to the extra power needs of PC itself, so make sure that you include the wattage of the power supply in the PC when determining your power needs. If this 1440VA (about 1050watts) will only keep your PC-based surveillance system powered for about 10-mins, then you might want to consider a larger UPS unit, or one that can accept additional battery packs to extend the power timespan.

Q: 10. Need to know if APC Smart-UPS SRT1500XLA is an 'online' UPS that will prevent connected device with 100W power draw to hard reboot if utility power fails for 5 minutes?

A: This system has 7.6 minutes of use at 1000W power draw as its listed uptime.

Great unit! Super happy with the reliability and price point for the 3K. SC is a super feature.

This is absolutely the most inexpensive way to obtain (the rack mount version of) one of S-E / APC's latest generation of UPSes. Advanced features such as "Enhanced Intelligent Battery Management" and "Graphical LCD" with multicolor LED backlighting make this UPS extremely easy to live with. Also, greatly extended run time is available with optional additional battery packs. This model also corrects one of worst problems of some older UPSes: It has the ability to immediately protect equipment when power returns after a complete discharge of the battery. Make sure you consider this UPS if you want the most advanced model available.

Not every application for a high quality & high capacity, 208V UPS requires rackmounting. In fact, I have used this UPS in many medical and industrial locations where a free-standing, floor type UPS was required. It has the same dual conversion circuit configuration as the rackmount version, for the absolute best performance. Note that it is a hard wired input connection, however.

The APC SMT line is my go-to for all UPS needs. The price over the SMC units is worth it to get programmable outlets, the ability to add network cards, etc. This particular unit is nice because it is shallower than the rest, allowing it to be used in a 20 rack with a rear door.

This is perhaps the value leader for mainstream UPS installations. 1kVA is not the biggest in this form factor, but it’s big enough for many applications. The addition of SmartConnect means that most users won’t have to buy a NMC to monitor the vital functions of this UPS. Consider this model carefully before moving on to more expensive models.

The UPS is easy to set up. SmartConnect is an attractive addition to the APC family.
