I mainly shoot pictures and videos of family parties. This camera is great on the video setting in bright and dim light. If you want nice, bright videos in dim light, this is the camera. The only complaint is the lack of Optical Zoom while using the video setting.

The SX200 is a great camera with just several minor ergonomic issues. First and foremost the image quality is terrific throughout the zoom range. Compared to a regular Elf the image is much sharper and at 12 MP you can cut later and still have a high resolution image. Size wise it is just a bit ticker than a regular compact and shoot. The zoom is quite fast as well as the focus. The back screen is excellent- it washes out somewhat in bright light but not as bad as older cameras. It is high resolution and you can inspect your shot easily. Image stabilization works great. The shortcomings are small and not bad. The pop out light even when you do not need it is bad idea. Also it comes exactly where your fingers are when you hold it. The recovery after a shot is slow, acceptable but I wish it was a bit faster. The cover for the lens is flimsy.

I love the fact that I can photograph something as close as 1 inch and can really get great detail from significant distance away. The compact size makes it perfect for taking anywhere, but still has the terrific zoom capabilities. Very happy I found this particular camera.

This my 4th digital. When we travel, I want a small camera that basically does most of what an SLR would do. This one is a bit heavier in weight than some tiny compacts, however, that can be overlooked with all of it's features. It can take a close up macro shot of a ant; zoom in and take a crystal clear shot of a jet skier at dusk. It takes photos inside without flash, clear, realistic light tones. Great little camera - it's manual, aperature priority, shutter priority - plus a multitude of auto settings, makes this perfect small compact camera. If I could change anything, it would only be to make it smaller or lighter.

I use the camera when i do not want to carry my larger Canon. The camera gets great photos and i really like the zoom power.

This is the best point and shoot camera to use in any situation. What I like most about this camera is the 12X Optical Zoom. I am able to take pictures up close and the quality of the picture is that of an SLR camera without the bulk. I am very happy with my purchase of this camera.

Pocketable (well, if you're wearing cargo pants). Very sharp and colorful stills and pretty decent 720p HD video. It won't replace a DSLR and/or serious HD camcorder. But you can put this in a small case strapped to your belt and take it everywhere on vacation. It's a neat little tool.

Have had this about 3 weeks now and love how small it is, but how close you can zoom, how many features there are and how good the pictures come out. Seems better at capturing subtle color in the sky than other cameras I've had. The battery seems to last a long time, some reviews said it didn't last very long, but I took it on a 4 day trip and charged it once, but I didn't really need to. There's no viewfinder, but I actually didn't notice until about a week after I got it that that was missing!
