Great eyepiece

Used with my scopes I get 60x and 77x magnification. The view is outstanding. Stars are pinpoint edge-to-edge. I like the longer eye relief. I prefer this to the 7mm NT6.

I purchased this Pentax XW10 eyepiece for a Pentax PF-65EDAII spotting scope and I have no complaints with it. This setup is very clear and does great for what I bought it for. My main intent with this setup was to see bullet holes when target shooting at extended ranges and under ideal atmospheric conditions I was able to make out .223 diameter holes in white paper and on brown carboard at 515 yards away so I'm really happy with that. I doubt I could make them out at 600 yards but I'm sure I could see .308 diameter holes at 600 or possibly a little further, again under ideal conditions. 515 yards was as far as I had available to shoot so I didn't try for max visible distance. I was caught off guard by the shear size of this eyepiece when I received it as I was imagining it to be half the size it is. The only improvement I could suggest on this item is for a better fitting lens cap. The cap just presses into the rubber eye cup and is held by friction. So far I've not had mine come out but I tend to worry about it coming out at some point and losing the cap.

I procrastinated trying pentax eyepieces for years had televue and other premium eyepieces so figured I didn't need them got a 20mm Pentax xw on a used spotting scope I bought and loved it, have since bought the 14mm and 10mm, though the AFOV isn't quite as wide as my Televue Naglers, it is plenty wide enough for my use, eye relief is much more comfortable, and kidney bean blackout areas and edge distortion are non-existent, the 10mm XW will be replacing my 9mm Nagler T6, May even consider eventually replacing my beloved 27 Panoptic with a 30mm Pentax.

Bright image, excellent eye relief, effective exit pupil and very good build quality. I use the 10mm eyepiece with a Pentax 80mm straight spotting scope for viewing planets and other astronomical subjects. Because I wear glasses, the 10mm with its long eye relief is easier to use than the 8 to 24mm zoom. I use the zoom for daytime subjects.

Crisp, clear view, excellent eye relief. Replaced the zoom on my spotting scope with this eyepiece. Easily resolve .223 bullet holes at 300 yards.

image quality is great. works well for digiscoping, too

I couldn't find fault with this eyepiece, however I bought it for terrestial river viewing. I already had the Pentax XW20 eyepiece and was hoping to be able to see greater detail with the XW14 but that was not the case. To me it seems about the same as the XW20 in resolving fine detail. It will probably get very little use because of the wider field of view of the XW20.

Having used orthos, plossls, various wides and Pans/Naglers, I heard a lot about the XW series and decided to try for myself. Flat field, color correction and contrast are on par with the 11mm t6 Nagler in my triplet, and the housing is also easy to grip with gloves. The best parts to me though are the built in t-adapter and the lifetime warranty. Regardless of fault, you can send it back to them for repair/replacement for only a small fee, I think just $ or so. Can't beat that!! Only downside is a slight color tint but only noticeable when direct comparison is made to the nagler, certainly not a dealbreaker...

I use the eyepiece with a 80mm Pentax scope for long range rifle shooting. This is a large eyepiece but not a problem. The field of view and image sharpness are just super. While I can't pick out individual hits at 1000 yd. I can read the score ring numbers and shot markers like I was standing right in front of the target. I have been able to compare the image quality with a few other scopes used by other shooters and have not seen anything that exceeds the image quality of the Pentax eyepiece.
