Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many ml in this?

A: The Canon PG-243 Black Ink Cartridge contains 5.6 ml of ink.

Q: 2. how many square footage of image can each ink cartridge cover?

A: There is no clear cut answer for this question, even Epson can't give you a definite answer. The reason is that it all depends on the density of the image & how much of each color is on the print. In general these 50ml inks are much larger & better cost per print compared to the cheaper smaller printers. Here is the thing, if your shots are great & you know how to utilize the printer the value of the prints will pay off by far.

Q: 3. Is this a pigment ink?

A: Yes this is a pigment based ink

Q: 4. What is the standard page capacity for the PGI-255 PGBK XXL and the PGI-250 PGBK XL?

A: Cannon's posted page yield is 800 for the XXL cartridge, which I have used. I have the Cannon MX920 printer. If I use the FAST printer setting I achieve about 800-1200 pages. If use the standard printer setting then it may be around 800 pages. The XXL size seems to be a better value for me.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the Epson T324 ink cartridge and Epson cartridge for their R800/1800? It appears they both use the same ink (HG2) in identical capacity (14ml) cartridges, yet one costs more than the other. What gives?

A: The inks for the R800/1800 are 13ml and they are not described as HG2. The inks for the P400 are 14ml and UltraChrome HG2. The physical shape and size of the cartridge is different too so you cannot use the T324 ink in the R800 or R1800 printers.

Q: 6. How many pages from a canon PG240XL cartridge?

A: I have no idea. I believe the canon site says 300 pages. I purchased 2 such cartridges and they lasted so long that I still have the second one in my MX 532 which is a Canon Pixma printer. It has its shortcomings, but the way that it uses ink is the reason that I keep because I do an excessive ampunt of printing. Call me old-fashioned or just call me cheap, I do not like to store research on my computer so i print reams of paper and file it. It is great that my printer uses so little ink because I just purchased refills and the price of this ink has skyrocketed.I will not use refills because when I took the A+ computer repair course that was one thing that stuck! Refills will eventually plug up your computer! Hope that this info helps. jwh,jr

Q: 7. Thanks for your explanation of copy machine vs photo printer. Most of us understand that copy machine prints more text documents while photo printer was not intended to print text but photos. Therefore I would never have thought about asking the estimate of P900 ink usage of print text books — Please forgive me my bluntness. I have also noticed that Epson’s change of cartridge size is possibly a way of increase ink price, e.g. 80ml cartridges cost only $58 each, of course the P900 is much compact. For people who upgrade from P800 to P900, it is definitely a leap of ink cost increase. May I use 3 highly pathetic scenarios for discussion purpose: 1. Print a photo of dark sky with 95% of the entire sky is dark blue and 5% with stars in the night sky. I will think the black and blue cartridges will soon go empty while yellow or magenta ink likely untouched. (How many prints could be produced with 50ml blue and black cartridges in this case?) 2. A high key photo of sky with a tint of orange color. In this case I would assume that the yellow and magenta cartridge will be able to produce a lot more prints than scenario 1. ((But roughly how many prints could be made before yellow and magenta run out?) 3. To print a color chart that divides 17X22 into 10 portions with each of them filled with matching colors of the 10 ink cartridge set. I will assume all the ink cartridge will run out at the same time. (How many prints CAN be produced in this case? — this is Epson color science not artistry. Do you think Epson should print this scenario on to every of their ink cartridges labels, just like a pack of frozen lasagne commonly print “for 2 people or for 4 people” on their packages? ) I am just frustrated that no body seem to want to give a serious answer. I am seriously considering pre-ordering the P900 and I have been buying from B&H for over 20 years.

A: Unfortunately there is no answer. It basically depends on how much ml of ink is on each print & that is something experience & time will tell. this is a high quality photo printer which definitely bring down the cost of more compact printers per print but figure the value of the final product "Gallery & Museum Quality".

Q: 8. Will this print on canvas?

A: Yes the z9+ can print on Canvas and Vinyl rolls.

Q: 9. What is the nozzle diameter of the cartridge?

A: The Canon PG-245 Black Ink Cartridge has nozzles as small as 0.009mm in diameter.

Q: 10. How many pages can I expect to print in black only with this? Canon MG3220

A: Canon estimates page yield to be approximately 300 pages.
