Like many, I was originally hesitant of the 4:2:0 8-bit - although the dynamic range is great, the footage can fall apart and is soft. Since the price of raw recording has gone down, however, I think this camera is starting to make more sense for more people. For me, the raw workflow is great. I record proxy files, swap in the raw files at the end of editing, do some quick color correction/grading and hit export. 256GB C-Fast cards last about 34 minutes each - any less and the workflow would be much more of a headache. As for the footage quality, it is astounding - way more dynamic range than I am used to and the footage looks great even in less-than-perfect lighting. Color correcting my GH5s sometimes took a long time, but with Canon C-Log 2 raw I only adjust exposure, white balance, and add an adjustment layer color grade across all my footage and I am good to go. For those weary of the raw file sizes, it can be substantial, but to me the workflow is worth it for the type of projects I do. Plus with NDs/XLRs and great autofocus the usability is hard to beat. Changed the way I shoot - I sold my GH5s pretty quickly.

I both the C200A and the C200B camera and they are great cameras. My production company does a lot interview style projects and commercials.

We own the Ronin MX and the C200B fits prefectly. The C200A’s EVF gets in the way so if you plan on using it on a gimbal the C200B is perfect.

I highly recommend this camera.

I have been a Canon fan since I first started my production company. When it was time to step up from my c100, I weighed the c300 vs the new c200. Holy cow, I am so glad I went with the c200. It has amazing capability for the price. The Cinema RAW light shoots at a quality you would expect with in a much, much more expensive camera. You can crank it down for your smaller projects, then crank it back up for 4K commercials. Let's face it, if you are a small to mid-sized production company, you don't have the need for a RED, 6K or a camera that requires 2 crew and a second mortgage on your house. The c200 punches waaaaaay above its weight class. I am having a lot of fun with this camera and would suggest it to anyone who needs Cinema quality 4K with their projects, but also a work horse that won't break the bank.

The only drawbacks are that this baby eats batteries and CFAST cards. If you are ordering it, budget for a couple extra batteries and a couple of large CFAST cards (256G or up). This will add an extra Grand, but the additional time on set without swapping out cards will be worth it.

A camera for RAW data, for professional advertising, fashion and indie films like B Camera for ARRI Alexa mini.

I bought a camera recently and Im shocked!

This is a very comfortable camera if you work alone or with an assistant. I only remove the Canon RAW lite. This is exactly what I was expecting. Wonderful skin tone, detailing. I often read that the camera is not sharp enough, but its a problem of optics. I use the Zeiss Milvus 50mm f 1.4 and Zeiss Milvus 25mm f 1.4 and the camera gives me super detail. I am very pleased!

My advice is short: Buy a camera if you shoot video ads, movies, fashion. (keep in mind - you will need knowledge of color correction). It makes no sense to buy a video camera for wedding and blogging to record it in h.264.

This is just my opinion!

This camera produces an excellent image. Yes, raw files are huge, but pound for pound this camera holds it's own. You won't find a better image at this price point and with Canon's beautiful and reliable color science. UHD MP4's are great too for online deliverables.
