The Cartoni Master 65 Head with Dovetail Plate and Two Telescopic Pan Handles is a fluid head designed with a large payload range for outdoor broadcast cameras with box lenses weighing up to 176 lb. Featuring a flat base, the head easily mounts on a set of Mitchel mount legs or a pedestal with a Mitchell mount. Depending on the center of gravity, the maximum payload of the head will vary. At 200mm it can support 143 lb, at 175mm it can support 154 lb, and at 150mm it can support 176 lb.

The fluid head comes equipped with the standard dovetail plate that mounts on a large sliding platform, which features a crank for making precise adjustments. The platform is indexed for repeatable balance adjustment.

The Master 65 comes equipped with a digital readout for counterbalance reference and an illuminated spirit bubble.

The fluid drag system is based on silicon film, which provides consistent drag as you increase it, and it has nearly freewheeling operation when drag is set to minimum.

A: Unfortunately it will not work as a flat base.

Q: 2. Is there a suggested weight limit or rigs this is on? I saw one person complained about the grips slipping under a RED EPIC.

A: The grips help steady the front of the camera. I use them for hand held work with the camera also in contact with my shoulder. I have had the grips for over a year and the handles have remained remarkably tacky to the touch. the grips seem a little wide, but nothing I couldn't acclimate to in use. The spring in the rotating handle is stiff and sturdy and I feel that if the rods you put them on could take the weight, they would work if you needed to work over your head if you wanted. Uncomfortable, definitely a strength move on your part, and unbalanced as anything, but they could take it.

Q: 3. Is the black version all black? Or are there silver accents to it?

A: The black version features black fasteners as opposed to the red fasteners on the red version. The silver metal parts at the joints are the same color on both versions.

A: I don't see why they wouldn't fit... these 15mm rod rigs are all standard. I have the Shape handles paired with a Zacuto baseplate and everything lines up perfectly. The handles are very good quality at a great price. I love the quick-release feature to adjust each handle separately and quickly when shooting run-n-gun. I also like the fact that I can rest this unit on the palm of my hand with the large flat indent between the handles... helpful for balancing the rig when using one hand while my other hand is making camera adjustments (I've used other handles in the past that have a nob in this spot and it hurts the palm!). The one-nob tightening system is nice too, although I think this nob could be a little more substantial. The only negative is that you can't position the handles closer or further from each other, but that's not been an issue for me to this point. Overall, an excellent purchase... and B&H has a great return policy.
