Stream and record up to four channels of video with this (No HDD)ACTi Standalone PoE NVR at resolutions up to 8MP. Equipped with one SATA port, the NVR can be configured to have up to 8TB of internal storage (HDD available separately). External storage options include PCs via internet connection, network servers, and USB storage devices. Network bandwidth is optimized while ensuring high-quality recording and playback using H.265 and H.264 dual-streaming compression.

The NVR enables simultaneous live view at up to 12MP and playback of up to four channels at resolutions up to 8MP via its VGA and HDMI ports. Up to four channels can be recorded simultaneously, with a maximum combined throughput of 40 Mb/s. The NVR is equipped with RCA connectors for bidirectional audio, and with an integrated PoE switch for powering up to four IP cameras directly via network connection.

A: This unit does not support HDMI input. The only way I could think of to get a 4K HDMI into this is if there is a HDMI encoder that is ONVIF compliant. As for SSD, technically you could put a SATA SSD in the recorder but those would be more expensive compared to Surveillance HDDs, especially in the larger sizes.

A: It can support cameras on both the the internal switch and also an external switch. The IP addressing has to be different for each though.

Purchased a used model. Everything but the power cord was inside the box. Luckily, I had a spare so no issue turning it on, but when I did the User/Password screen appeared instead of the Activation screen. The device was not obviously not reset to factory settings before repackaging. Went to Youtube (University) and found reset button is supposedly mounted on the board inside. Found it after removing the screws and cover. Pressed continuously for 30 seconds until one beep sounded. Released the button and after several minutes the Activation screen popped up on my SmartTV connected via hdmi cable to the NVR. Thereafter used the browser GUI interface to complete the setup. The device takes longer to start up compared to an older EV1 model, which has been running with no issues for the past five years. Also purchased a used HIK 8mp POE bullet camera model ds-2cd2083g2-iu which has stunning clarity and color. Takes time to sync with the NVR on startup but well worth the wait. Reported the factory reset issue to B&H. Saved half the cost, compared to buying new. Only minor blemishes on the outside. All good on the inside. HIK's iPhone app (iVMS4500) is the best there is for remote viewing. Others simply don't compare in ease of use. 5

I have been installing these NVR for a number of years and have never had a failure on them. For an on-site NVR, I would highly recommend this product. It has a very nice App for viewing cameras and an easy computer interface. They are well worth using. 5

Was told by B&H that this is rack mountable and came with ears. They responded by email and checked with Hikvision and assured me it was rack mountable and came with ears. When I received this unit, it is not rack mountable. So buy a shelf for your rack. Connected this to my network switch (not modem/router) and all cameras are hooked directly to the network switch. Access is through a web interface so the Hikvision menu is a non-issue for me. A couple of features on the Hikvision menu are not available on the web interface (or I haven't found them yet). Had a bad disk that I purchased so recommend running the Hikvision disk scan immediately after formatting. Otherwise it's a fairly simple unit. 5
